thru mad screens, having his feet at just the right angle, catching with hands on him and getting the ball off mad quick is on the level of reggie and ray allen, who were phenomenal, and, respectively, the best in history at doing THAT.
but then his beat you off the dribble game, making space, and getting his looks, for dolo game is surreal. there has simply never been as pure of a jumpshooter w/ the handles, quickness and knack for getting that millimeter of space as steph.
and this is just discussion of him as a shooter. AI was ridic as a finisher and, 4 inches shorter, and would bang on 7 footers like it wasn't shit.
but the work steph put in over the last two seasons to improve his efficiency in the paint, man... shit is unreal. he might float, might reverse, either hand, underhand, overhand, draw contact, avoid contact... that plus his stupid passing ability (cross body, with either hand, to ANY point on the court) would make him an all-star even if his jumper was broke.
ie, rondo type.
but when you add to all of that that this fool's jumper is the definition of wet, and that he got whole squads altering their defensive fundamentals, tryna d him up 40 feet from the basket, everybody helping, everybody closing out, it is something i'm comfortable to say we've never seen.
Jordan rules were hot in the skreets for a minute. teams were terrified of mj slicing through the lane. teams are absolutely TERRIFIED of steph being open 3, 4, 5 feet behind the line, and adjust their entire defense to try and take that away.
peace & blessings,
x.
