"Time for them NFL 'dictions..."

will the Raiders or Jets have the worst record in the league? Which QB starts Week 1 for New York? How weakened are the Pats? will Miami challenge them in the AFC East? who might be some breakout candidates, player and/or team? My pick...Lamar Miller. he's the reason we didn't give a shit when Reggie Bust walked, we knew we had a hidden gem from The U.

Who's a dark horse to win their conference? Minnesota? Cincy? I think Stafford has a bounce back year. Toughest division this year might be the NFC South, wouldn't be surprised to see 3 of the teams in the playoffs. Is Seattle the best team in the NFC right now?

How do you think some rookies will do? Rookies of the year? Maybe Tavon Austin on offense, Kenny Vaccaro on D? Ezekial Ansah is another candidate on defense, I think he will eventually be a STUD, Lions D-Line is looking scary right now.

Don't be scared to get bold with your predictions.

Hope so...but the offence is going to have to change a lot from last year. No Hernandez and no Welker. How much Gronk? I see a lot of 2 Running Back Sets and Vereen catching a lot of passes too. The Wide Receivers puzzle me, i hope Dobson can show something and i'm expecting a big season from Edelmen. The go to receiver for Brady will more than likely be Danny Amendola. Can Jake Ballard get on and stay on the field.

Bill Belichick is such a contrarian that he will no doubt come up with a new method to which other NFL coaches will follow in future seasons.

I'd like to think the Patriots defence is going to be a lot stronger this season than the past few years. A lot of investment from the past few drafts. I'm very keen to see what Jamie Collins can do. He played on an awful University of Southern Mississippi team which went 0-12 but at 6'4" and 250-pounds Collins is a physical specimen with tremendous athletic ability. If he had been part of a big school program he probably would have gone in the first round. Collins will be good against the pass and would also be able to line up on the other side of Chandler Jones and the Patriots could have two great rushing DEs.

nfc is going to be a war though... I keep hearing how it's Atlantas year, I don't think they sniff the bowl... Matty Ice finally won a playoff game last year but if that game had 2 more minutes Seattle won, Seattle would beat them in same situation this year imo.

I think Detroit bounces back and makes the playoffs

As far as Jets or Raiders... Jets still won 6 games last year with less talent then this team... I think they win about 5, I'd prefer worst record though and #1 pick... The first half of the sched is BRUTAL, second half is easy, if it was flipped I'd think maybe 8-8 was possible, but since they will start bad, the snowball effect is likely

Miami still won't win a playoff game

Pats will get to the afc title game and take a beating from Denver

Bengals win the North, Colts miss the playoffs

Our GM's seat is pretty much on fire at this point, his contract is up this year, either we make the playoffs and he gets extended or we don't and we finally rid ourselves of him.

Then again there's always the chance we go 9-7, miss the playoffs and he stays smh

By being worse than most everyone expects.

I expect Russell Wilson to come back to earth some. I think people are being WAY too quick to crown him as one of the best QBs in the league. In my opinion, he couldn't possibly have had a better situation last year:

He was drafted in the 3rd round, so expectations were low

The only guy he had to beat out was an overpaid, not-much-loved FA who had one game on his record (Flynn)

Most importantly, he went to a team that features all of a young QB's best friends. Based on Football Outsiders' efficiency ratings, Seattle had the 2nd best running back in the league, the 3rd best special teams, and the 4th best defense. Add in the best homefield advantage in the league...shit. Even Mark Sanchez is jealous of the situation Russell came into. Every single thing that you'd want to have to support a young QB, Seattle had in spades.

I just think one year isn't enough to show that you'll be the goods for a long time. Let's see him lead a team to the playoffs when half his defense is suspended for "Adderall," or when Marshawn misses 8 games for shooting a dog out of a cannon or some shit. I mean, do they even make the playoffs last year without the replacement refs against GB? I think Chicago would have grabbed their spot without that win.

Point is, EVERY bounce went Seattle's way last season, until the last 2 minutes of the divisional round. They won't be sneaking up on anyone this year. There's a full year of tape on Russell Wilson, NFL QB. EVERY team in the league has spent the offseason trying to figure out how to defend the Read Option...I just want to see dude excel in a season where shit goes sideways around him.

For any Seahawks fans reading this, I'm not hating on your team. Love Beast Mode. Hate the mouths on your defense, but LOVE the way they play. By Lions Law, I can't really, TRULY hate on a team that hasn't won a Super Bowl yet (except the Eagles, fuck you). And I'm not telling you you SHOULDN'T be excited about your QB. He looked amazing last year, he should get better, and he's making like $30k a year. That's a hell of an asset. I just don't expect their climb to the top to be as steady a curve as a lot of people seem to.

His rookie year the Jets had the best running game in the league, the best defense, and a top 5 ST. How do you think they were able to make the playoffs and overcome his 20 interceptions despite him being in a run first offense?

The talent level of their surrounding teams is very close--maybe you give the edge to Sanchez's rookie-year Jets (don't discount the home-field advantage, though, or the fact that the Seahawks run game was only #2 b/c Adrian Peterson went ham). But the "intangibles," imo, give Russell the sweeter situation.

He was a 3rd round pick, and the second-most-hyped QB Seattle brought in THAT OFFSEASON. He plays in the pacific northwest, a region which tends to get lost in the national conversation. He plays for the Seahawks, a team that has always been pretty easy to ignore (sorry guys).

Meanwhile, Sanchez was a Top-10 pick, anointed as the starter the moment he put on his draft cap. He plays for the Jets, one of the most visible franchises in the league, located in THE biggest media market. Everything the Jets do is basically cluster-fuck status, and he had to deal with more off-the-field distractions in his first 2 seasons than Russell is likely to see in his entire career. NYC is a pressure cooker, and you could argue (I won't, but you could) that there isn't a more scrutinized position in sports than Starting QB for an NYC Team.

Point is, Sanchez has been my gold standard for "Rookie QB who had everything set up for success." But all the things that were golden for Sanchez existed ON the field. Russell has maybe 95% of the same golden set-up on the field, and a MUCH more favorable one off of it. Nobody's telling the Post that Russell Wilson brought a 17-year-old back to his hotel room, you know?

You're not wrong--the 2009 Jets were an amazing landing spot for a rookie QB. I just think Wilson found an even better one, and to prove my point, NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT. Meanwhile, people constantly discredit Sanchez for merely keeping the wheel straight while his team drove the bus (I should know--I'm one of those people).

Don't think so. Both teams 10-6 but we beat em head to head. The Vikings got the Bears spot but we beat them too.

It's just as bad as our home schedule was last year but you could give the game ball to The CLink in a lot of those wins.

The road games present an interesting dichotomy this year. If we win enough there then we'd probably avoid it for most of the playoffs.

We don't do a lot of shankin out here & they already stepped up the security measures even at Sounders games. Wouldn't worry about getting stabbed but there'll be a ton of treated hawk fans there to give you hella shit for sure.

Fair enough. Just one win away from matching last year's total already & all of this w/o Percy playin a single down. O-line finally getting healthy too. Saints & Niner games back to back after a bye in a couple weeks should show & prove a lot for what the future holds.

It's not like he's throwing to a who's who list of WR's & TE's. The offensive line hasn't been stellar either.

His decision making might've slumped a bit at times this year but he's still progressing pretty nicely.

Top-3 defense both years
Top-3 running game both years
Top-3 special teams both years
#1 home field advantage both years

Every single thing you'd want to put in place for a rookie QB--RW got it. That's not a knock on him--there's a long list of QBs who could still weave failure in the same situation. He seems to be a great leader and talent in his own right.

But I just think you're nitpicking pretty hard to call his supporting cast anything less than great. His WRs may not be household names, but they all have HANDS, which I love to see. TE is meh. But when you constantly have great field position, can get 5+ yards on the ground on any down, never have to worry about playing catch-up...c'mon. You couldn't create better circumstances for a rookie QB in Madden.

Didn't sniff the playoffs the year before we drafted him. Tate was probably on his way out before Russ came along too. He's been a completely different player under Wilson's wing management...as has Kearse. The former Vikings were supposed to be his best weapons & he's exceled pretty well w/o much help from either one of em. It's mapped out nice so far but obviously he deserves a ton of credit.

Coming into a situation where everyone knows this year is basically a throw away year to get the offense in place.

Biggest college name to make the jump.

Using a QB on his last legs all while either getting one of his young QBs ready to take over or having to find a new QB which also buys him time.

I think in that spot he gets 3 years and if they are still bad he gets fired (unless they do something like go 2-14 both years)

Everyone else on that list would be canned if they showed no improvement after 2 seasons.

2 bad seasons out of the gate with nothing really to feel happy about in season 3 could be it for him.

I'm not saying he won't last 3 years, but I think Kelly is the only guy GUARANTEED to have 3 years (baring some crazy incident)

>Chip Kelly,Eagles
I say he makes it past three but I could easily see it going south if a couple of things break the wrong way.

>Mike McCoy, San Diego Chargers
Biggest lock to make it past 3 for me. Chargers let Norval hang around for 6 seasons on team with real expectations. Hell, Marty lasted about 3 seasons After the point when communications with his GM were limited strictly to pasting "Kick Me" signs on each others backs when they passed in the halls.

>Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs
I think another safe bet to make it past 3 seasons. Inability to win it all is not a problem the Chiefs have on the front burner right now.

>Gus Bradley, Jacksonville Jaguars
Won't make it unless he manages to grab a stud QB in the draft next season. I think it's gonna take a bit of work to get the Jags on track and he needs a flag bearer to get people's hopes up and get some patience.

>Bruce Arians, Arizona Cardinals
I think he could be in trouble too. The NFC West is really tough right now and I think hitching his wagon to Carson Palmer is going to turn up the heat if he can't get the Cardinals to at least compete for a division crown in the next 3 years.

>Marc Trestman, Chicago Bears
I go yes on Trestman. Just a gut feeling that he gets Cutler playing at his best which gives him enough momentum to get past the 3 year hurdle.

>Rob Chudzinski, Cleveland Browns
I'm betting the under here. I want to see the Browns get it together but based on their history since coming back and my complete lack of faith in Weeden I taking the safe bet.

>edit & Doug Marrone, Buffalo Bills
In a coinflip decision I'm saying he makes. I think he benefits from some bounce back from the big money FA's who bombed last year.

2-2 in the NFC West (Loss to San Fran and Seattle)
3-1 in the AFC East (Loss to Patriots on MNF)
4-2 in the NFC South (Loss to Saints and Falcons on the road)
1-1 with the 2nd Place NFC East and North Teams (Loss to Vikings)

I think their schedule has its advantages...fact that all the weather games are early...Buffalo is 2nd week...We could upset Seattle on opening Sunday...

Carolina isn't as far as people think they are...they lost alot of close games and gave alot of those away in 2012 (Falcons, Dallas, Tampa, Chicago, Seattle, Chiefs)...close half those games...they are a 10-6 team...

They have to start better though...if they come out the gate 0-3...Rivera should be gone and its gonna be a long season...schedule doesn't get easier...we play the Vikings, 49ers, and Patriots all coming off their bye week...

..the nfc south has the toughest schedule in the league (2 yrs straight). *the early bye weeks put this division over the top in that regard.

the panthers were listed ahead of the bucs & saints in the official standings, but that 3 way tie @ 7-9 was based on conference, not division. with 2 losses to the bucs, they were JUST ahead of the saints, who were reeling in the wake of a scandal that included suspensions to players AND their head coach.

injuries are a given in the league, so that's not a debatable point for this discussion. knowing that every team in the league works to make moves in the offseason to improve, how did the panthers address their current issues?

*example*

my beloved bucs were plagued by gapping holes in the secondary. to address this, they brought in the following players:

darrelle revis (cb)
dashon goldson (fs)
jonathan banks (cb)
jonathan casillas (lb)
akeem spence (dt)

even with those upgrades (major), they still have their work cut out for them. i'd love to see them start strong & fast, winning 11 or 12 games. realistically, i wouldn't be surprised if they finished 9-7, barely making the playoffs.

carolina has an explosive, yet anemic offense and their defense was even more porous than the bucs. looking at the panther's 2013 schedule, i don't see them winning 10 games.

The fact that the division games are in the second half of the schedule helps Carolina. They were a different team in the second half.

You know how division games are. We are gonna beat each other up. I got Carolina winning four division games. I think 10 games is realistic but starting strong is critical. If we go 0-3 into the bye, it's gonna get ugly.

Picked up Ted Ginn Jr. to be our return guy to improve the field position for the offense.

We were able to resign Dwan Edwards at DT who had 6 sacks.

Our front 7 should improve with our two DT draft picks (Star and KK)

I am nervous about our secondary...no shame to admit it but if we pressure the QB, we will be fine. Our starting DEs had double digit sacks last season.

Picked up Hixon from the Giants to compete at the 3rd WR spot.

I am fine with Carolina not going after the big free agents because historically as a franchise, that hasn't worked. I like the moves that our new GM has been making. 10-6 isn't out of the question.

its almost as if they actually believe all those "tough losses" in the last minutes of each game should suggest that they're moving in the right direction.

cam needs some serious help, and it starts with the coaching staff.

Carolina's Defense was 10th in the NFL...That's a little far from porous...their biggest weakness was stopping the Run and drafting some DTs in the first two rounds should help.

>its almost as if they actually believe all those "tough

They actually do believe it...The new GM could have easily blow this team up...easily...he decided not to...

Saints get Sean Payton back, Tampa just drastically improved the worst secondary in the league by teaming Revis and Goldson with an already budding star in Mark Barron, and ATL is basically a legit contender every year.

Can't deny Payton returning will be a factor but we play well against the saints when Peyton is there...and they didn't really improve like that even though Rob Ryan as DC will help alot...

We don't know what Revis we gonna get after the ACL recovery and NFC South WRs >>>>>>>>> AFC East WRs

Carolina should have swept the Falcons last year but Matt Ryan throwing 60 yard bombs with seconds to go killed that...

Carolina will give teams fits this year...10-6 or Rivera's fired...

..injuries may be an obstacle, but they're never an excuse

the best teams find ways to deal with issues and overcome obstacles.

tampa bay lost quite a few games by close margin (esp against atlanta, dallas, nyg, & washington). most of those games were lost because they couldn't stop the big play down field in late game situations (some of that was due to bone-head decisions made by schiano). they've made considerable progress with off-season acquisitions, but all of that means nothing if they can't execute on the field.

that's an honest assessment.

i don't think your assessment of carolina's 2012 campaign is accurate. who knows how they'll fare in 2013, but their off season acquisitions don't exactly scream massive improvement.

In response to Reply # 172

my biggest concern right now is the offensive line...

unlike most people...i'm not that concerned with the WR or the Secondary

you don't have to sign big ticket free agents to show massive improvement...

resigning Dwan Edwards was a big deal...he had 6 sacks at DT...which is top 5 in the NFL for that position and we got him without paying him alot of money...

picking up Ted Ginn Jr. will improve our return game big time...we were among the worst in the league...and on top of that...he can get some play at WR...probably at #3 WR position...

drafting Star and KK will improve our D-Line rotation...and Star will help in stopping the run...

10-6 is realistic to me...I watched all 16 games last season and it wasn't like Carolina was so inferior to the other teams...they won 5 of the last 6 games last season...they just gotta start better than 2-8...

I believe that 10-6 is the bar for Rivera to keep his job and for Gettleman to not blow up the team...

People are acting like the Steelers went 2-14 last year. The last two seasons have been derailed by late season Ben Roethlisberger injuries. Even with the injuries on D the defense has played exceptional football. If the Steelers can ever get a consistent offense together they're good to go. This has been the story for YEARS with the Steelers. They times they've won it's just been with a good enough offense, and they've have some GREAT offensive talent. They just can't consistently score points. Good luck Todd Haley.

>Book of Elijah: 10.19 - Eli becomes Immortal

The Giants can show up one year and go 8-8, come back with damn near the same team and go 11-5 and win the whole thing. With the NFC East, it always feels like the money is sitting on the table but no one wants to grab it. The Skins needed an epic win streak last year to get into the 'offs. The Eagles had an epic losing streak, injuries, and a haze of 'it is over for Andy'. The Cowboys couldn't look good for more than a week at a time. And last year...Eli took a shit for about a month..and they lost games that they need down the stretch...badly. There is basically no predicting any of those teams to me.

I mean, besides among hyped up Giants fans?

He's capable of being one of the best in the league. He's also easily the most inconsistent player of all elite Top-10, top-6 whatever QBs.

The Giants struggle to make the playoffs every year. Some years they don't make it, some years they go on a ridiculous run.

What's left to discuss about him or that team?

Not saying that Sanchez couldn't get them a win or 2, but I want to see what Geno does from the gate...hope he wins the job

Also, as sad as it sounds, glad they retained Braylon Edwards (sigh)

Agree with you on the D. It hurt my soul to lose Revis like that, but I think they'll be OK. Young talent like you said

Plus, I think Ivory and Goodson is a solid (not great, but solid) backfield. Ivory especially, because he can catch the ball out the backfield and can bail out Sanchez/Geno

we're not going anywhere this year, there's no rush to start Geno. Let Sanchez make his last stand and see if he was able to progress after this offseason that couldn't have been worse for him.

if he never gives that "we're gonna win the super bowl now" sound bite (2yrs in a row), then the jets actually come out and over achieve, looking like a team with potential.

instead, they fall short, face a rash of injuries, idiot decisions, and a shit storm in the media.

the amount of pressure that team is facing is ridiculous.

But I do agree that he put some unnecessary pressure on the team
However, coming off 2 AFC title games, I don't blame him for having faith

What really killed the team was
A. Sanchez didn't take the next step that most of us thought he would
B. It's not easy for Sanchez to take that next step with no focus on WR's

Nobody saw the offense looking THAT bad. TJones was great for us, LT was great for us, and Shonn Greene was supposed to be the next man up. He stunk things up, the O-Line (which I don't blame nearly as much as everyone else) wasn't completely healthy, and Sanchez regressed. I also think Sanchez never really recovered from being booed out the stadium after his 4INT game against Buffalo

Everyone expected Sanchez and Greene to be way better and take the next step as players and that didn't happen.

i'm thinking the rest of niner nation (not OKP, the outside world) needs to lower their expectations a bit.

sure, it'll be kap's first year with a full camp as the starter.

but we've got a ton of questions at wideout still... we don't know what aj jenkins has except one drop...we know crabtree's out for a long time. we know don't how john taylor junior, mario manningham, and his knee are gonna hold up.

and the pass D was atrocious the latter half of the season including the playoffs.

....and we play four playoff teams in the first 5 games.

fuck the london game btw.

pragmatically speaking, the last team to lose the super bowl and come back and win it the next year was the '72 dolphins.

not try to be glass-half-empty here. but this team's got a lot cut out for it.

11-5, which wins the nfc west.

I don't love our schedule though. The AFC North and NFC South are the divisions we face. Those won't be fun, but we should still make the Super Bowl.

RG3 will be injured before week 15.

Tannehill slightly improves.

The meag(L)es FUCKING SUCK their way to 8-8.

The 9ers and Seahawks regress.

The Rams make the playoffs.

Carson Palmer serves as a bastion of dat 'privilege.

The Ravens surprise everyone and make the playoffs.

The Packers don't make the playoffs.

The Chiefs are competitive.

Lions make the playoffs.

The Jaguars win 7 games.

Eli continues to state his case for best player of his era.

Mark Sanchez keeps his job through week 9. Geno then leads the Jets to a solid finish.

The Pats miss the playoffs.

Drew Bree's regresses by week 13.

Josh Freeman loses his job by week 12.

Texans making the playoffs.

Randy Moss and TO sit out the season.

Tim Tebow starts... at fullback.

Tom Brady gets injured.

Peyton Manning gets injured and Brock looks okay.

EJ Manuel looks serviceable in the Ryan Tannehill mold.

Cam regresses again.

The Steelers make the playoffs.

Matt Flynn gets exposed eventually. The Raiders finish strong.

Jay Cutler shows why he's an asshole.

Brandon Weeden FUCKING SUCKS and loses his job by week 8.

The Browns go 5-11.

take an 8-8 season following last year's 4-12 debacle. This team is undergoing a massive overhaul on both sides of the ball. Essentially, this season is an evaluation year. Lots of new guys have been brought in to fit the Chip Kelly/Billy Davis (DC) system and I expect even more turnover in 2014.

Sure, there's always going to be a loud, irrational vocal minority of Eagles fans who will complain if we don't make the playoffs. However, I think most fans (at least the ones I'm friends/family with) understand this is a rebuilding project that may take a few years to fully develop and flourish.

I'm completely perplexed at the notion that a team can 'suck' it's way to 8-8 coming off a 4-12 season. But then again, Kira posts the most insane, nonsensical things about Philly sports-related teams.

8-8 is a shitty season no matter how you look at it. Especially if the losses are blowouts. I take you hating fuckboy niggas to task. Just like that time I had you niggas upset in that 150 reply Sixere post of truth. I had niggas so mad they brought up titles the Sixers ain't even win. They didn't play in Philly before 1983. So all this talk of all-stars and titles is almost complete bullshit. Don't even get me started on football especially recent history.

The point here is y'all Philly niggas are the loudest, wrongest, hatingesr, MAD, irrational, fanbase in all of pro sports. The Philly sports fan is a classless moron. Y'all niggas biked Santa Claus. Nothing I said was wrong at all.

HE. JUST. WINS.

With none of the character issues other Super Bowl winners have. He's a throwback quarterback in the sense that he watches film and practices early. He's not a global icon but a true winner.

Eli throwing darts on a ropes out there. Meanwhile Tom's wife copping pleas for his poor play. Eli took the Patriots, number, email, Apple ID, SSN, and soul... TWICE.

didn't play in Philadelphia until the year the Thriller video came out?

Like, getting past the obvious part of what the name means, how/why were you able to:

a) say something that stupid with such supreme confidence as to use as a checkmate with people actually from that city.
b) go into a whole new post & brag about dropping that fun-fact-FAIL in a previous post to reconfirm your lack of sense or even ability to make one Google click.
c) still try to play it off in a third post but then ejecting then...
d) come back in here talking shit like I give a fuck about any prediction you made & won't just ask 'where did the Sixers play before 1983?' again.

you gotta at least put something concrete out there (and the fact that's the murky goal you wanna hang your hat on says it all) to give a prediction any teeth.

Everyone knew the Chiefs were returning six Pro Bowlers, had a nasty D, suffered through all kinds of injuries/drama last season, got a real QB & a head coach (their two biggest flaws) in the offseason while playing a perceived easy schedule.

Them being competitive wasn't really some fortune teller shit.

Vegas had their over/under line at 7, meanwhile if they finished 7-9 you could still claim 'competitive'.

But congrats on the moderately right example rather than the litany of completely wrong ones.

It doesn't have the year on it, because why would it.

Defense improves a bit from last year and Lacy gives us a decent running game, 12-4 or 11-5.

9ers, Saints, Giants also win their divisions
Steelers, Broncos, Patriots, Texans win theirs.

Wildcards: Falcons, Seahawks, Ravens, Bengals

No one goes better than 12-4, three playoff teams have 9-7 records

expectations for my team (Eagles). This should be a pretty relaxing year for me as a fan. I'm just excited to see the changes Chip Kelly is going to bring with regards to play-calling, preparation, in-game adjustments (a foreign concept to Big Red), use of player personnel, etc. I am bit nervous regarding the defense and the installation of the 4-3 under/3-4. Not sure we have the right pieces there (especially at LB) and our secondary is shaky at best.

I'm anxious to see how Vick responds as this will be a make or break year for his career in Philly going forward. I'm anxious to see how Foles develops. I'm anxious to see how J-Mac and D-Jax play in what could possibly be their last season together. Both guys are going to be asked to do things (block) they've never done adequately at best in the past.

But I digress....

Predictions:

NFC EAST:
*'Skins - 10-6 (though, only a RGIII injury away from being sub .500)
Giants - 9-7
Cowboys - 9-7
Eagles - 7-9

My postseason predictions for the NFC:
1 - 49ers (bye)
2 - Falcons (bye)
(3) - Packers over (6)Seahawks
(5) Saints over (4) 'Skins
49ers over Saints
Falcons over Packers
49ers win back to back NFC Championship games

AFC:
1-Den (prey on easy division)
2 - New England (same as above)
(3) Baltimore over (6) Chefs
(5) Pittsburgh over (4) Houston
(1) Denver over Pittsburgh
(2) New England over (3) Ravens
(1) Denver over (2) New England (of course all this hinges on the health of both starting quarterbacks).

49ers over Broncos in the SB.

Kolb is concussed by week 3, EJ Manuel is serviceable in his first season.
CJ Spiller continues to do everything.
Starting 5-1 & finishing 5-11 is done now that bum ass Fitz is gone.

both Skins vs Giants games are worth $50.

So if Skins win division ($50) beat NYGz at home ($50) and away ($50) I have to pay you $150. 2-1 = $50, and so on.

Deal?

In Vegas that's a toss-up, as watchers of football we know that should be a G-Man giving odds bet if anything & as a Giant fan you should be ashamed even asking a Skins fan for that.

Will make the 'Offs...Will finally get some decent line play to protect Cutler....Will get a strong performances from Matt Forte...And FINALLY get some big plays from the TE...Defense will be "good"....not great....

I believe under the new new coach and scheme, Cutler will get close to those Denver numbers...Still need to to see if anyone else at the WR position can catch the ball with some consistency other than B. Marshall.....That, and the offensive line, will be key....

In response to Reply # 0

Updating a previous item, the Eagles fear Jeremy Maclin tore both his right ACL and MCL during Saturday's training camp practice.
Team docs' "first examination" revealed Maclin may have torn two knee ligaments instead of a routine ACL tear. Either way, the early signs are ominous for the scant remaining hope Maclin might be able to play in 2013. Maclin's MRI is taking place Saturday afternoon. The year-ending injury improves DeSean Jackson's fantasy outlook slightly, and bumps Riley Cooper onto the first team.

in win now mode and they brought in a bunch of bargain bin WR's suited to play in Chip Kelly's new style of offense that requires WR's to be more physical. Riley Cooper, Aurellious Benn, those are the big, physical WR's Chip Kelly is looking to feature more prominently in the offense. Also, Kelly is looking to utilize the TE's much more.

Losing Maclin sucks and I feel horrible for him. I truly hope he's able to make a full recovery and salvage his career. He's never really been able to put it all together, but he's had a very nice career here in Philly.

and they're about to be running those 2/3 TE sets like the Pats were doing last season, with a worse QB but better RB & feature WR.

The offense will be fine. They've added two starters at least thru the draft plus will be brining back the four starters they lost off that line last year.

Defense is a mess.

This division and having to play the NFC west this year, however, means we at best get the 2nd wild card

..this might be the most impressive roster the bucs have fielded in YEARS.

still, we all know that what works on paper doesn't always translate to wins on the field. injuries are inevitable, and that early bye week doesn't bode well for a long season.

significant upgrades:

darrelle revis
dashon goldson
jonathan banks
jonathan casillas

current issues: health

darrelle revis might be the best cb in the league, but that means nothing if he isn't healthy. the loss of connor barth will likely have a serious impact.

the additions of glennon, hillis, and crabtree bring much needed depth for such a physical team.

*ronde barber's retirement is a significant loss. his leadership on the field was invaluable. hopefully, schiano's smart enough to offer him a position in the coaching staff.

right now, schiano needs to show serious improvement in his ability to manage games. if the bucs plan to compete for a championship, they need to show that they have what it takes to finish games strong.

I'll take the foul. They straight up tricked me last year. And they MIGHT trick me again. I just need to see if they still have horribly slow LBs.

They have talent on offense with Frederick and CJ being one helluva 1-2 at RB. And last year they made a gang of signings that may eventually pay off if they can stay healthy and get solid QB play. And really...that division's 2nd place money is on the table. They've had injuries galore on both sides of the ball for the 2nd year in a row. And yes, Fitz went to shit after he got the money. He started pressing when we would normally either let it go or take off running. It is kinda sad cuz I remember him being serviceable in Cincy that year he ended up playing instead of Carson..and that team was a mess.

im a giants fan so there is zero reason for my negative feelings toward them ....... anyway i'd be shocked if they make the playoffs, pats win the division by default.

AFC North steelers get it together, their D is always good and big ben plays 14-16 games. Also browns battle ravens for the basement spot.

AFC west chargers go 4-12 and it goes down to the wire with the raiders for basement spot, broncos easily win the division.

AFC South texans win the division in a snorefest titans vs jags for basement spot (and maybe for number 1 pick).

NFC North Im gonna go bold and say lions finish number 1 in division or the bottom out i see feast or famine for them no 8-8 they are either the best in the division or flame out horribly. Its gonna be brutal regardless for all the teams in the division too close to call.

NFC east The 4 year cycle of division winners suggests its the cowboys year. I think it'll come down to the giants and cowboys with RG3 missing 4-5 games. look out for JPP and david wilson later in the season.

NFC south saints come out hard rob ryans blitzy D holds teams in place and based brees puts up record numbers again. Falcons fail again

NFC West niners get to a second straight superbowl probably lose a second straight superbowl too. seahawks regress.

They spent a bunch of money on some shiny thangs. And folks don't believe in any of those dudes. I HOPE they are playing possum with Mike Wallace (early reports list him as underwhelming...yikes), but really...I didn't buy him as 'that guy' either. I've seen him fall off the face of the earth down the stretch with the Steelers too. In general...to me...the later it gets in the season, the more you need grown men WRs who can make catches in traffic even when they aren't open. You know, that Boldin stuff.

and there's no real reason to buy that they have it figured out now with the same owner, GM, a slack-jawed head coach & a young QB who's proven nothing?

Just a few guesses.

I expect him to increase his numbers across the board, this is the year we make some noise, I think we can win 9 games, maybe 10 if we catch a break, probably won't win the division but we'll be in the mix for a wildcard spot.

Optimistic on Kelly's looks on offense with whatever QB we have starting even without Mac

Still many question marks on what we'll do on defense with our core linemen adjusting to a 3-4 to say if they'll either ill on everyone or just be painful to watch. I'll take the safe bet of them being at the very least average.

I was hurt when the Eagles got Connor Barwin. dude would be a certified beast in a Mike Nolan lead defense, then the possibility of him playing with Osi

that's what Chip helped Belasterisk with & he's gonna take it back like the white man with the potentially Gronk/Hernandez-like Celek/Ertz combo & Casey backing them up.

Maclin was obviously a very nice piece to have but he certainly qualifies as a 'luxury' rather than an essential with Desean there too.

They still should have more than enough skill-position-weaponry to move the ball & put up points so long as the returning-injured-last-year-starters coupled with the rookie #1 pick left tackle can protect & the QB doesn't turn the ball over a lot.

The defense I figure can't be as bad as the last couple years but who knows how much better they'll be in their third system in the past year with not a lot of 'elite' guys on an individual level.

it's gonna be the NFC East as it's been recently, teams beat each other up, 9/10 wins from the team that's likely the healthiest plus taking care of the football & seize momentum at the right time take the division title.

From an odds-making perspective obviously the Eagles head into the season as probably the least-likely division winner but that really doesn't matter all that much, this ain't the Bills in the AFC East the last decade or something.

Acting as if 8 wins is an absurd achievement when the line is actually 7.5 in Vegas is silly.

This team wasn't as bad as they played last year, have fortified themselves in a lot of their weakest areas & have a different coaching voice in the locker room for the first time in 14 years injecting a new attitude/approach.

That flip happens at least once literally every season in the NFL, usually multiple times.

We will start slow but after the Bye week (October 27th), we will beat the Bengals (barely), and then go on a tear leading into the playoffs. I think that AFC title game is a reasonable goal. Depending on how the offense clicks in the second half of the season and our health, we could go back to the SB, but so far we've already lost Pitta. Keeping our RBs healthy will be a MUST. 12-4.

I am worried about the offense and losing Pitta though as he was supposed to slide into that Boldin role after they let him go (which I knew was bad mojo when it happened). The kids after him - Doss, Williams, Streeter don't really give me a lot of confidence. However, with Caldwell having more time to work with the offense, I'm sure he'll compensate for those deficiencies.

Ravens 11-5

Streets won't let me chill.

Need more consistency from Dalton this year. But with the additions of Eifert, Bernard and a healthy Sanu, I like the potential the offense has. Defense is obviously legit. Most excited I've been about a Bengal team since the 2005/6 years. Hopefully they don't find a way to let us down like they usually do.

The Steelers win the division barring a Big Ben injury or a Ravens winning streak at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't mind losing 13 games by field goals or safeties.
