Running through all the movies leading up to Endgame, and watching Thor, Cap, then Avengers, I was confused by the Tesseract's presence.
It is first seen in Thor, which occurs in the 2000s, but it first occurred in MCU in 1940s Europe, and discovered by Stark after WWII. How does it get from SHIELD custody, to Asgard and back to SHIELD? Or is this simply a plot hole?
I have NOT seen Captain Marvel yet, so if it is better explained there, just say "you'll see in Captain Marvel"
the shit looks so much like the Tesseract I thought it was heavy foreshadowing. Ok, that clears that up and actually makes sense, even though it wasn't totally clear how it ended up in Eastern Europe in the first place.
Although, based on bwood's comments, will be interesting to see how Cap Marvel plays it.

Planting the Tesseract on Midgard with minimal security.
Apparently doing a terrible job of raising Loki (LOL)
Apparently also doing a terrible job of raising Hela
Thor himself didn’t pull himself together as mature adult until Thor I at the climax and still made poor decisions like automatically fighting Cap and Tony instead of just talking it out in Avengers LOL
Also knowing Loki could cast illusions, Odin should have had a security protocol to keep Loki from so easily impersonating him
How does it get from SHIELD custody, to Asgard >and back to SHIELD? Or is this simply a plot hole? >
I was in Norway first in the hands of humans who worshipped the Asgardians.
Then taken by Red Skull in the first Cap movie. Then recovered by Howard Stark and used by shield in some capacity up to the 1980's and 1990's where its used in project Pegasus as seen in Captain Marvel.
Then Loki steals it in the first Avengers movie from Shield, after he's defeated in NY, it's in Asgard. Loki takes it before Asgard gets destroyed and then coughs it up to Thanos in Infinity War.
So it went from Norway to Shield to Asgard to Thanos.
