"So who *should* direct a Star Wars movie?"

Yes, I didn't like the prequels.

I enjoyed The Force Awakens, but like many, thought it was very derivative, and more of a reboot/remake than a sequel.

Unlike many, I highly enjoyed The Last Jedi.

I honestly dozed off during about 15-20 of Solo. I would have preferred whatever version Lord & Miller were going to bring. Hell, instead of what we got, I would have preferred Channing Tatum as Solo and Jonah Hill as Chewbacca.

My question is: who could put life back into Star Wars? Who could 'right the ship'? More specifically, what director out there could successfully make the Star Wars fans that the diehard nerds will actually love?

I think for Episode 9 Abrams is going to play it safe, maybe backpedal from where Rian Johnson went with the story, and ultimately go through the motions and give us something on part with the Force Awakens. Aka: "Ok. This will do."

So who?

The Russo Brothers?
Coogler?
Denis Villaneuve?
Favreau?
Edgar Wright?
Whedon?
Ridley Scott?
James Gunn? (kidding)
Other?

>Ridley Scott?

i can't see him doing this at his age now even if he lives to 100

>James Gunn? (kidding)

i'm not. you see where kidding gets you. my immediate impression after watching GOTG vol. 1 was it was a b-movie version of SW original trilogy, so, absolutely, but then he already did it.

>Other?

i could do this all day since apparently the fan fiction universe of post-lucas SW is vast, but how about jay oliva?

>The Russo Brothers?

That'd be great

>Coogler?

He'd kill it

>Denis Villaneuve?

He's currently knee deep in pre-production
on Dune which he said he's trying to make SW for adults.

>Favreau?

Dope!

>Edgar Wright?

OD dope.

>Whedon?

Yup.

>Ridley Scott?

Probably never do it

>James Gunn? (kidding)

He already did it with Guardians.

Let's keep living y'all until this thing becomes real. I heard he was and I like hearing that he is even more.

>Unlike many, I highly enjoyed The Last Jedi.

First off, wildly critically acclaimed. Second off, forget the Rotten Tomatoes votes, which were revealed to be bot-driven anyhow. IMDB has Last Jedi at 7.2 after over 400,000 votes-- and that *includes* the bots and trolls who tried to drive that down too! Third off, the CinemaScore was an A. Exit poll audiences loved it.

The problem was a number of loud and adamant angry white men decided to spew hate loudly and frequently all over the Internet, which then spawned a ton of media stories, which then created an unnecessary divide in the conversation.

Yes, some people didn't love it, of course. Of course some hated it. Same happens with every movie. But the overwhelming majority of people found The Last Jedi to range from good to great. The trolls changed the narrative successfully, but there's a reason Star Wars still has Johnson making future films. The producers know the truth beyond the trolls.

I would go with Bigelow over Patty Jenkins. I wasn't that impressed with Wonder Woman.

Bigelow would be great though...
