It's going to be an "expanded" 12-episode season. Originally the order was for 8 episodes, with there possibly being a season 5 as well.
But this makes sense from a story perspective. I don't know there's many more places they can go, beyond finally determining if White Rose really has a time machine/link to alternate realities/whatever.
Also, if the Queen biopic and Papillon do well, Malek's going to want to do more movies. And Esmail is going to have his Amazon show with Julia Roberts.

especially since there might not be that much more Sam Esmail and Co. can do with the concept especially since it's been revealed that White Rose is doing what we all thought she was doing.
I want to binge all three seasons just before S4 because something tells me that Season 2 dropped hints in the midst of all the tedious stuff that people groaned over. ---------------------------------------

i avoided the show cuz anti-social hacker???? eh
weird show name? eh
that was a mistake. its a show definitely worth watching. i got hooked from the first episode. definitely recommend anyone that has avoided to watch the first episode.
season 1 was great to me
season 2 was pretty good too, the reveal was a bit stunning. i could understand some people losing interest after that but i liked it.
season 3 kind of lost me. it started to seem like they were making up the twists as it went a long instead of it being planned out. i could see season 4 changing my view on all of that but i kind of powered through it towards the end just to get it over with. great characters and acting still.
will definitely watch season 4 and im glad they are planning an end instead of trying to stretch it out.
from a social aspect the first season shocked me that they would let a show about bringing down capitalism actually air. after season 3 it seems more like a cautionary tale. like a warning that you dont really want capitalism to end, look what will happen. that kind of bothers me.

my take on it was more like: hey, let's go ahead and take down the control system. so Elliot/Mr. Robot do just that. only to realise they're not the free radicals they thought they were. that the control system uses the opposing force as just another piece on the board. the overall msg for me was that the powers that be will always prevail, because for them there is no competition, there is no opposing force or a need to "win". they don't need to play by the rules of a game because they not only create the rules, they create the game.
i remember Price saying as much to Elliot in a brief exchange last season:
Mr. Robot: Five/None, F society. You knew the entire time, didn't you?
Phillip Price: Five/Nine, yes. Well, not all the minutiae, of course. But since the cyber bombings, the breadcrumbs haven't been that difficult to follow.
Phillip Price: World catastrophes like this, they aren't caused by lone wolves like you. They occur because men like me allow them. You just happened to stumble into one of them.
Mr. Robot: No, no. I ran the operation. I pushed the button. I am the one--
Phillip Price: There you go again. "I, I, I..." You are still thinking like a lone wolf.
Mr. Robot: Why don't you tell me how I should be thinking?
Phillip Price: Like a leader!
Mr. Robot: I am a leader.
Phillip Price: Then where are your followers?
Phillip Price: You can't force an agenda, Mr. Alderson. You have to inspire one.

it's depressing as fuck, and it's essentially an arm of the control system giving you that message through a tv show that's presented as being anti-control system. there's usually a good guy wins/hero's journey scenario playing out to appease the masses and make us feel someone like Elliot can not only change the world, but make it out alive on the other end of it.
but knowing this show, our protagonists will bite the dust and the White Roses and Prices of the world will keep on keeping on.

Joey Badass showed up .... then he gets in the car and puts on Moment of Truth... I was back in then...
You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
