Although my excitement for Predator movies has dipped quite a bit since the vs. Alien movies, eh, why not, maybe Shane Black can right the ship.
I will say a large part of my interest rested in the involvement of Sterling K. Brown and Keegan-Michael Key, but from the trailer it doesn't seem like they especially large roles.
Still, it looks promising. At the very least it has to be better than that garbage with Adrian Brody.

He did play Hawkins in the original Predator. I also hear he wrote some scenes.
That world is filled with some pretty cool lore if they decide to go that route. Trailer looks meh but here's hoping we get a pretty good Predator flick.

seeing it on the big screen it has to be one of the worst constructed trailers in recent memory. If it didn't have Predator spelled out in giant shitty-90s action movie font it'd be near impossible to tell this was Predator movie. It is also edited to undercut any possible moment of potential humor/action.
this shit got ZERO pop in the theater I was just in. I hope this is just a shit trailer but...i doubt it

Don’t look for a coherent film cuz this movie’s scenes are all duct taped together with clear connective tissue missing. Plots are set up and never resolved, weird character behavior and introductions, timeline all fucked, etc. Still, some terrific Shane Black one-liners, a few really strong performances (Rhodes, Munn, and Brown in particular), and some enjoyable violence make this worth catching for those interested.

I can't even entirely blame this on studio interference. Major characters and plot points were just shitty.
Key again proves to be the Garfunkel of his past sketch duo. He doesn't make the best out of bad writing, and the writing is undoubtedly bad. The BFF relationship he has all of a sudden with Thomas Jane builds to an end that...maybe it was supposed to be emotional? It made my audience laugh.
Sterling K. Brown was at least having fun with the role, though he was horribly miscast.
The lead has 0 charisma and you never once believe that he is tough enough to go head to head with a Predator of any kind.
The fact that Reek from Game of Thrones was in it makes me doubt that any of the cast of GoT has any shot at career longevity except Peter Dinklage.
Guys, this shit was Alien Vs. Predator level bad. Avoid. I can see why this was shot ages ago and the studio just sat on it. It's hella crap.
If you just have to see this, I urge you to wait until it's streaming. In that case, you might want to do a double feature of this and Alien: Covenant. Crack open a bottle of Yellow Tail and you have a perfect night of disappointment.

You can see clearly what was the studio and what was the creative team. Including the third act which is the studio's. My boy went to test screening and said it's night and day between Shane's version and what's released in theaters.

People kept insisting they wanted Redford to speak and to have a backstory with a family or something. I kept interjecting and yelling over them. I was hulking out, man. Hard to stay calm at a test screening.
There was probably more humor in the original. More exposition. More gore.
It's also a shame that Shane Black didn't get his original casting choice of Benicio del Toro for the lead. The guy they got was even less convincing as a badass than Adrien Brody was in Predators, and that's saying A LOT. Yet we're supposed to believe that the guy can not only go toe to toe with a Predator, but a super Predator. Nope nope nope.

speaking as a long-time huge Shane Black fan... ...plz get stoned before seeing this shit. i actually had a stupid fun time with this. only went tnite cos my mate wanted to see it (he's a big fan of crocodiles and Predator movies). we were fuckin HOWLING at some of the lines and delivery. incredibly 80sish foul-mouthed Shane Blackisms. seemingly off-the-cuff semi-meta comments. and that motley crew of a team lol. like, i had zero expectations. none. i got lit specifically cos i thought it was gonna be pretty meh, even with my dude Shane running shit. but i had a blast.
invoking the "choppa" was the icing on the cake.
if all the shit about studio interference is true, that's a damn shame. Shane's the kinda dude who needs to be given the auteur-with-final-cut-privileges treatment: let him do whatever the fuck he wants. this is the man who wrote The Last Boyscout, possibly one of the greatest films ever made, and still Bruce's best moofie (actually that flick had heaps of problems and differences b/w the test screening and final version too).
