I'm 4 episodes in...and it's fucking great. It's a parody of true crime shows - Serial, Making a Murderer, etc. but somewhere after the first episode, you start to fall in love with these characters, Freaks and Geeks style. It's a pitch perfect parody, but it's got a ton of heart and some big laughs.
It's REALLY great, guys. You really come to care for these characters by probably episode 5-6, but by the end...they really ratchet that up. So insanely well done - I mean, everyone knows a Peter, a Dylan, hell - even a Ming.
Really captured high school, and the parody and dick jokes kinda fall away at some point and it becomes a really interesting take on this genre.

Smart writing. Great acting. Dicks. A quietly hilarious, legitimately engrossing mystery. Episodes 5-6 kinda started to feel like padding, but it picks up again. So damn good.

Not just a parody or joke, but I thought the note it ended on was more salient than what 13 Reasons tried to do (this also created a more believable high school world than 13 Reasons). They used the ridiculousness of the characters and situation to make a pretty clear statement on how some people are just written off by society.

after episode 1 i didn't think i could sit through a full season of this but you guys are right...episode 5 or so started to get real good. the episode with the party was great...all the scenes with Ming had me dying.
Slightly less jokes, very gross prank/s at the center of it, just as good. Interesting take on how prevalent isolation is for this generation, even for "popular" kids.

There's just nobody as overtly ridiculous as Dylan this time. Still found myself cackling at the more subtle stuff, which is where the real magic is anyway. Another home run.

Season 1, Dylan and his friends were constantly clownish, even in the rare moments that they broke from their immaturity, so there was always a joke right around the corner. That didn't occur so much in this season. And I agree; just quit now. Hard to imagine how they can either top this or avoid repeating already perfected material.

But I think I got attached to the various kids & characters from season 1. I think I'm holding a grudge against the kids in the new school because I want to know what's going on with the old crew from season 1.
