season 28. Didnt even know a new season was airing. My DVR usually catches them. So I started watching the first episode and was disappointed with the cast. Until they gave away the twist on this one. They have former champions who will come back at some point in the game. They are bringing back some heavy hitters. CT, Bananas, Darrell, and Zach for the guys. Cara Maria, Camila, Ashley, and the beast Laurel. Hopefully its better than last season. First two episodes are up on MTV.com. This should be good.

Revealing the vets later in the season would have better but I guess they showed it early to make sure loyals stick around (also, 'Champs Cam' is GENIUS). Love the tweak to the elimination that winners are guaranteed a spot in The Oasis (and the implicit stipulation that they need to survive to cash in).

The naivete the young bucks are showing early is hilarious. Trying to look too deep into building that dirt hill is stupid (especially that one girl that thought they'd each be building a hill on their own).

It's too bad Bruno got bounced early because he had an interesting story but Tony is slotting in nicely into the heel role that the show really thrives on.

I give the producers props all day for establishing a season where it's mostly unfamiliars for half the season and keeping viewers interested. Bananas/CT/Laurel/Darrell are must-see but they know they need to give camera time to new talent to keep the show going long-term.

Nice job blacklisting yourself for all future Challenges. Kind of a meh episode, although I do appreciate their effort in innovating the elimination space (hiking to the spot!!!).

It doesn't matter though, THE CHAMPS ARE HERE. On that note, if any of you are watching the show off your TV/DVR, make sure you catch the app and/or website for the Hall of Fame specials. Last week they released TWENTY MINUTES OF UNALDULTERATED CT. This week is Bananas... I really hope they do one of these for each Champion.

and on the last episode they called Theo an Uncle Rico type guy that listens to Bruce Springsteen's 'Glory Days' on a loop in his head.

Ive never liked this banking money by winning a challenge format. Especially when the one team has an advantage on the amount of people they have. I think the Champions would have whooped on the Challengers the first game had the teams been even. I also dont really like that they are competing against their own teams. But I guess its the only way to ensure the Champs dont run the show. I think the only guy that is remotely good for the Challengers is that Hunter kid. I think that was his name. Everyone else is garbage. But damn Darrell still has it. Now the show is getting good.

Three way eliminations is something they need to revisit again in the future.

And NO ONE saw Camila beating Laurel in anything, let alone that rope challenge. WTF happened with Laurel? Creative editing for sure but even without the bias towards Laurel I still would have thought she'd smoke Camila.

As with all seasons of "The Challenge," format is everything and here are the details.

Each episode of the event will focus on a different strength: Agility, ingenuity, brawn, brains, endurance and guts. The winning team's captain will choose one member of their team to go into the elimination round, and the rest of the team will decide the fate of that person's opponent. The losing team's captain is sent into elimination while the rest of the team also decides on the opponent.

The best part? The final male and female competitors of the season will run a final that tests each strength for a chance to win $50,000 to donate to their favorite charity.

I dont know but these multiple day finales seem way easier than the single days. The first couple of 2 day finishers were good. They would have them go all day then have to alternate sleeping by standing on a log or a box or some shit. But the first day was basically 1 challenge. Followed up with that coconut thing. Then a full night of sleep. Then a couple of other challenges and the bracelet then another night of sleep. Remember when they had to climb a swim, ride a bike, eat ram balls, then climb a mountain the same fucking day? That is what I want to see.

Length alone doesn't mean much if you're getting breaks in between. The best ones have been the mountain challenges where every second is a struggle, including overnight.

I had a hard time paying attention and that's never happened before when I'm watching the show, let alone a finale. Maybe it was also bc some of the finalists were pretty uninspiring (Camila just blaming everyone else, Cory checking out, Nicole arrogant as always and then finishes last, Ashley emo about who knows what, Nelson always talking about who he wants it more...only compelling dude was CT).

dude seems really really level headed. I hate when people go to that I dont remember or I was angry and it just came out bullshit. I think she just has a really shitty tendency to hit below the belt, especially when she's been drinking.

Like there was that time she got into it with Amanda and called her out on her freckles. We can all probably agree that Camila isn't exactly the most subtle person, so she just picks out something about the person to try and hurt their feelings. Unfortunately for Leroy, that was the color of his skin.

If Leroy feels she isn't actually racist, I'd be willing to go with that. Sad thing is that's probably not the first time (nor the last) he's had to say those words in forgiving someone for their actions.


Also, yeah, holy shit, Leroy was composed. She was clearly angling for a random fight then kept provoking herself. I would have been heated if I were in his position. I was surprised tho that no one called out Bananas on his shittiness? She was on the verge of leaving and he threw a fucking pillow at her.... like, what the fuck?

MASSIVE props to both Hunter and Nelson on their performance in that elim. Blown away by Hunter on his recovery in that first round, blown away by Nelson flipping him on the second, then the grind from both on the last. Such a weird elim since neither person can get real leverage but those dudes brought it.

It does highlight tho how dumb Nelson was for throwing away his opportunity to send Bananas in early in the season. Now his alliance just eliminated each other and he's the only one left.

(Gah, I love how organic the storylines happen in this show.... SO GOOD)

Why didn't more people just try stretching out then try hopping from one foot? You can stabilize on the other foot while you're grabbing onto the bell.

Seems like it'd be harder jumping off, then landing on, two feet.

i cant remember which Challenge it was but there was one where they put him into the elimination every single time and he went in there and was eliminating everyone before finally losing. Similar to how Wes did that one time. Derek is a little guy but he has heart.

but this season really hammered home what a terrible person she is. Leroy's right, it's telling that you can see character growth in people from season to season but Camila's stayed the same... regressed, even.



That said, I was *not* a fan of how much they dragged out the finale here. Really lame and anti-climactic to what was a top tier season.

And I hate how there's another Challenge season.... too much saturation despite the different competitors and I have no interest in starting another one so soon.

the season was so good because it wasnt rushed. They let it go real slow and told the story well. I enjoyed that but I hate the behind the scene/panel show after every season. So to make me watch two was complete bullshit.
