was very good. I haven't cried watching a show like this in a long time. The reality of being divided as a family as we are losing a parent hit very close to home for me.
As petty as it might be, the fact that all the rich people on the show are light skin bothered me, though. That image is hurting us and our self esteem as a people, IMO; it reinforces the narrative of the oppressors.
time is money, money is time so i keep 7 o'clock in the bank and gain interest in the hour of God I'm saving to buy my freedom, God, grant me wings, I'm too fly not to fly _ Saul Williams

Killers row of cinematography, direction, acting and location.
The writing and the plotting though?
:/
And it bothers me. Because you have glorious scenes like when Rutina Wesley confronted her sister about her buying the setup on her card...but that whole Basketball wives/husbands storyline just seems like soap opera world (the second part of the tape leaking at that perfect time and running into the court...etc)

love how it's shot, the feel, the look. i think Louisiana is just that kind of state/location. You can't really fuck up filming there.
But the story is like ehhh...nothing truly grabbed me and made me want to learn more outside of the son and his relationship with his son. rarely do we see black men in these types of positions on television. but other than that, i'm over it.

but it looks so dope y'all. some of the framing of the people inside of scenes, weeewwwwwww. the humans are almost like set pieces. there is rarely ever only one person in a shot and the silences are so important too

I do love his relationship with his son but I'm already ready for him to grow past the fuck up stage.
Does anyone know if Charly is the oldest or was she an outside baby or...
Each chracter has depth which I love. 9/10 Charly would ONLY be a wife, not a manager and degree holder. Ralph Angel wouldn't be so doting and understanding with Blue, he'd be a complete loser. And Nova.....I feel like she's the least developed but it's only episode 4. Journalist - drug "dealer" - having an affair with a married white man in New Orleans
