-They still fear him, for starters. That much is clear.

-They're wondering why Bourne pops back on the grid. That's a pertinent question to ask going in and asking it in this teaser means there should be a damn good reason for that.

-Styles is key here: "you remember everything, but you don't *know* everything."

-The world is at war? That's an interesting thread to ponder.

-That last line: "we need the perfect weapon". I wonder if Bourne comes back into the fold, and if so, why, and under what terms? That last line invites all manner of conjecture going into this.

Basically it's exactly what a trailer should be.

Add all that to Damon's statements about this outing dealing with Bourne in a post-Snowden society and Bourne being in a much darker/disturbed place, that's a hell of a teaser.

That said, this wasn't the sort of trailer that gives away all the big moments and that's a good thing.

you make good points. for me i felt like SoulHonky did below. the preview just gave me a bad feeling about what the tone of the movie would be. as SH said, made it feel like they were going into superhero mode.

The concept of Bourne is a lot like Malcolm In The Middle. Bear with me, lol. Things are set in a way from the beginning that all manner of outlandish shit can go down but they've so firmly established who and what these characters are that it's extremely difficult to truly push them out of bounds.

I think that scene where he's ripped and beating a new found faith in God into some poor soul just sort of conveys that he hasn't been resting on his laurels.

The one where he's firing away on a bike of some kind is in line with the tradition of iconic chase scenes in these flicks.

So to me, that plus that last line, "we need the perfect weapon", is the tell of another cat and mouse tale. The program- whatever the name is now, lol- and/or country needs Bourne to combat some other threat.

Naturally there will be some subterfuge. Someone is lying or withholding vital information somewhere and Bourne will likely be a pawn of some kind, yet again.

But Bourne has always been portrayed as the kind of dude you wouldn't feel comfortable betting against in a fight with, well, anyone. Bourne vs Batman? Shit. I gotta think. Like, Batman is fucking Batman, you know? But then I'm like YO, HAVE YOU ACTUALLY SEEN JASON GET DOWN? KEL EL HIMSELF MIGHT NOT WANT IT! J WOULD FIND A WAY SON!

Hyperbole? Yeah, but just a little. lol.

Plus, I have faith in Damon and Greengrass. I think they know this is something special. Bourne is now an iconic character and I think their return signifies a direction that will respect the history of the franchise and the integrity of the story and characters.

If you're as much a fan as I, I refuse to allow you a shred of doubt. Have faith my friend!

i am a huge fan of these movies. that's why i said i'm in no matter what. damon and greengrass, yep i have faith in these 2 based on the trilogy. really though, i'm a big damon fan too and after 3 movies with this character i really don't think he would allow any foolishness to tarnish what he's already built, ya know?

Taking the franchise into borderline superhero mode. Not that I would mind that but I like the games of cat and mouse in the original trilogy.

I highly doubt Greengrass and Damon would come back for some basic super hero type movie. Let alone the other people that signed on.

One of my absolute favorite movie characters and I need something to wash the taste out of my mouth after that bullshit Renner outing.

I actually liked Renners character and they did do some interesting world building in Legacy, so I hope that's cannon. I wouldn't mind seeing Renner in this, though last I remember there are still plans for him in another film down the road.

To me that's a good idea provided Greengrass and Damon have a role in the creative end of that, as producers or writers or something.

Thirsty as Universal is to create their own 'Universe' answers to the MCU (that monsters universe, for example) I'd be surprised if they're not treating this as a potential jumpoff into a new chapter of the franchise ala Fast Five. You could argue the 4th installment was the genesis of the current state of that franchise, but I think 5 was the one that elevated it into the monster it became.

At any rate that was a dope teaser. We'll see what's what when a real trailer drops.

Some of those lines were goddawful, but the action looked great, and Damon vs. Tommy Lee (assuming that's effectively what it is) should be fun.

and cars flying in the air after getting hit.

Solid trailer but the vague "You don't know the truth!" angle makes me a little nervous. Is he just realizing that most of his hits were probably not on the up and up? Why did he think they would be?

Hope it surprises but going in with lowered expectations.

Bourne is bad-ass, more excited for this than another MI even tho I loved the last few MI films, maybe just cuz there are more of them and its been a while since seen Damon do this role. I just hope its on par with the others.

though the manila chase sequence is too long.

a sequel could work for redeeming qualities. and it's not like there's a high-water mark in hollywood right now, given the shit they're pumping out.

they can still run in parallel, since bourne's pedigree is treadstone and aaron cross' is operation outcome. they even gave bourne's existence some rub in 'legacy' when cross is waiting in the airport and looks up at the tv.

legacy was slated for a sequel, but i guess damon and greengrass convinced universal to green-lighted theirs instead.

as for the film, i saw it yesterday and wasn't really impressed. don't know how many more movies we can take of CIA suits standing in front of 100 screens uttering, "OH MY GOD, THAT'S JASON BOURNE". and that vegas car chase was just ridiculously dumb and overextended. LOL @ the SWAT truck becoming a literal buzzsaw down the strip.

mild spoilers

it was okay, but not near up to par with the trilogy and should have left it be. I'm used to Bourne movies being very smart with the script but this had people doing so many dumb things. Just staring at computer monitors with sensitive data forever knowing full well they are tracking them. The chase at the end looked cool but kept wondering why dude didn't try to crash Bourne since he's in a swat truck and Bourne driving a charger or stop and shoot him since he obviously wanted him dead, instead kept running to keep the chase going cuz, hey we need a cool car chase. Bourne can knock out muscle bound greeks in one punch but punches this dude 50 times with little effect.

It got a lot more exciting once they arrived in London.

I should check out the original trilogy one day though, I've only seen this one and Legacy.

Her best moment is when she shows up to give Clive Owen some info & he shoots her look like 'WTF are you doin in a flick like this'

definitely the worst of the four movies. i enjoyed it, but its nowhere near as smart as the first three. not even close. the car chase at the end was dumb. i do hope they do another Bourne, but would like to see him rejoin the CIA and do smart missions that are more acceptable. i will buy this on dvd though, as i saw it on a bootleg site, and would like to see it on my big screen.

Yeesh.

And I'm still on the fence with Vikander. I know her character was supposed to be buttoned up but I always get a cold, lifeless feeling from her, which kind of worked to her advantage in Ex Machina.
