"Krampus (Michael Dougherty, 2015)"

I could've swore there was a post on this already.

But man is this shit fun as fuck. A perfect campy Christmas horror film.

If you loved MD's "Trick 'r Treat", you'll be over the moon for this.

I dug it. Not sure why people are thrown off by the ending. The first chase at the beginning of the film was my favorite part. The noise Krampus made frightened the hell out of my youngest daughter.

Daughter didn't want to see Star Wars (she wants to watch them all before seeing the new one), and she's been dying to see it anyway, so we went. Pretty awesome for what it is.

when the movie you really wanted was out.

and then youd end up keeping it out a week.
and it was well worth the late charges.

This gets compared to Gremlins a lot. I can see why. If it weren't for a few parts and the ending, I could see showing this to my kids when they are like 8-10. But damn the movie gets so dark and morbid and basically the "heart" of the movie goes out the window.

It's like the director got a divorce halfway through the movie and was really pissed off at his family and was like you know what? I hate my family and fuck Christmas.

I thought the moral of the movie would be "Don't give up on the spirit of Christmas."

But what weirded me out was that the movie doesn't really have a moral center. It just has a single lesson, which is:

"If the Krampus shows up, that's your ass."
