First 3 episodes this season are classics IMO.They are as usual on top of current event at a surprising speed. PC Principal is the best thing to happen to SP since the departure of Chef LOL

Genius. Any episode with City Wok is guaranteed to have me gasping for air, I'm laughing so hard."Let's go Child Labor! Let's go!"

It's shaping up to be one of their best seasons. Episode three was one of my favorite episodes of the past couple of years. Those SodaSoap commercials and a new Whole Foods in the neighborhood being a monumental PC achievement were perfect.
What puts South Park on a higher level than shows like The Daily Show, John Oliver, Family Guy, etc. is that they show no political alignment but rather equally mock the stupidity of every side of an issue. It's more nuanced than piling on the conservative-of-the-day who put their foot in their mouth.
Having an overarching storyline this season has really worked out. I'm excited to see where it goes.

There are so many high quality episodes in recent years in particular it's astounding to me that they're still putting out this kind of quality.
The cash for gold episode was particularly scathing, as was 'let go let gov'. That Honey Boo boo/James Cameron ep was dead on.
Even the shits and giggles episodes have been very good, like the oculus rift ep or Butters going to Hawaii. Even many of the weaker episodes still have incredibly good side stories, like Butters getting bullied by his grandma.
Hell for my money Sarcastaball is top twenty all time.
I see a fair amount of dismissals of the show these days though and when I hear people say it's no longer funny it's usually someone who doesn't actually watch.

Which is the greatest compliment. Like, it's so consistent in making me laugh, I never doubt it. Like you said, even when it's weak, it's still enjoyable.
6. "The two seasons before this were a little shaky though." In response to Reply # 4
Not as bad as some say, but still sorta shaky.
Season 17 started off fine before getting bogged down in the middle ("Taming Strange" and "Ginger Cow" are two of my least favorite episodes that they've done in a while). It did finish strong with The three-part Game of Thrones send-up and the "Hobbit" episode.
Last season was kind of boring. Started off fine ("Go Fund Yourself" and "Handicar" were great), but got kind of forgettable as the season went on. I will say Randy as Lourde was a fairly funny season-long arc.
I like this season well enough. The best episode was the one about gentrification. Yhe Donald Trump stand-in getting fucked to death by Mr. Garrison was about as undignified a death scene they've done since Chef (which made it awesome). But I'm hoping there's more to this season besides them whining about the "Return of PC." I'll definitely stick with it though.

...to stretch the length of the season and that another dark week is scheduled in December. That info came from a random reddit thread so... grain of salt.
