His best movies seem to deal with hubris and manipulation of institutions and Snowden and the US Government seems to supply both of those.

That being said, I don't know if I'm interested enough in Snowden's politcs or governmental surveillance to watch this in a theater.

One of those situations where there literally cant make iut better, without fictionalizing elements which will really standout.

Although, for some reason, I think this is a more streamlined story that Stone won't get in his own way, which is often a problem with his scripts. The difficulties with making the film also might have tied his hands a bit.

At the very least, I'm glad he made this instead of his MLK movie.

Stone-esque moments shine through what's otherwise a well-acted but totally normal biopic. Probably better as an entry to Snowden's story to the uninitiated than as something for those already familiar and looking for more depth. The acting is fine-- Cage, Ifans, Olyphant, Schnetzer, Quinto, and Stanfield come off best.
