Pixar missed the boat not having a film last year, and this one has been in the works for a while, which makes Pixar's near perfect track record look and feel suspicious (I haven't watched Cars or Cars 2, and I didn't like Ratatouille or Brave). That said, it does look cool, and I'll be there.

Didn't really give the title the credit it deserved, but I didn't like the rat controlling his chef by pulling his hair. I've been meaning to give it another whirl honestly.

also

i think the dinosaurs might be a little too cartoon-y (they seem to have less detail than the t-rex toy in toy story)

hopefully that'll get tweaked before release

For best movie of the year?

Inside Out was great, this one looks great too.

Starting this year, I think they are going to be releasing 2 each year from now on (I think I read that somewhere and the schedule seems to suggest that's right).

They could pull a Rocko's Modern Life and just have jar of mayonnaise in frame for 90 minutes and somehow make an incredible movie.

I mean they weren't terrible but they were far from great or really up to the Pixar standard.

Some people also feel that Brave and Monsters U (whatever Monsters Inc prequel was called) fell short of being Pixar hits.

...on the OG concept for this.

Inside Out overshadows this badly, and had Pixar not done this, this would be a gem for other studios' animated canon.

But it's fairly standard stuff we all seen before. It's fun and heartbreaking. Sometimes in the same moment.

This shit is very, very beautiful to look at as well.

Also, Sanjay's Super Team was not shown beforehand.

This film is visually stunning, but man, what a rote story.

I hold Pixar to a higher standard based on their track record, which has typically brought about interesting/creative concepts that work both for kids and adults, and resonate on an emotional level.

This was the first Pixar film I've seen where my main thought was that only a five year old could appreciate this. And even that may be dubious, as it's not exactly action-packed, either.

I was watching the whole time like "I cant believe Pixar's name is on this movie", the kids liked it though. It didnt have the depth and emotion that most other Pixar movies have. However, Sanjay's Super Team was great, another impressive Pixar short film.....

There were many landscape scenes that I thought were real. Just incredible to look at.

I get the feeling Pixar is in a rut storyline wise though. This was a lion king and finding nemo mashup.

What was really loss on me the whole concept of the "what if" an asteroid didn't wipe out the dinosaurs? I just didn't see how at all that was relevant to the story other than human and dinosaurs co-existing (dinosaurs farming sure but why?) but that wasn't even a major point storywise, the humans could have been just small mammals story-wise.

Still a B+ because pixar slightly average is still better than most others good stuff.

I actually liked it better than Inside Out.

>There were many landscape scenes that I thought were real.
>Just incredible to look at.

I give the film an A based on the landscape shots alone. My girl and I sat in our seats constantly like, "Goddamn it, Pixar is just showing off at this point."

>I get the feeling Pixar is in a rut storyline wise though.

I have a Pixar push that would kill. I just wish I could have five minutes with anyone at Disney/Pixar to pitch it.

>What was really loss on me the whole concept of the "what if"
>an asteroid didn't wipe out the dinosaurs?

They bailed on it. The original idea delved more into it, but they cut bait on that one.
