Great cast (that somehow doesn't include Judd Apatow's entire family,) and he didn't write it, so maybe it will be under two and a half hours. The trailer kinda leaned heavy on "OMG, she's doing casual sex and is a WOMAN!!!1!" stuff, but hopefully that's just the trailer.
Amy Schumer wrote the screenplay and stars. I'm cautiously optimistic.

The talent involved is impressive but the trailer felt a bit too over the top for me. For instance, you could play her being stunned by the phone call without it making it seem like she is THAT clueless as to why he's calling. Especially since that over-the-topness and the set-up of her being misled by her dad makes me feel like we're definitely getting an Apatow slow third act with a message jammed in.
Honestly, I wasn't that fired up for this and the trailer didn't move the needle either way. Can't imagine it's outright unfunny but just not for me.

And it's well deserved. This movie hits all the right notes and goes. Combined with Apatow's new "art" sensibilities that he picked up from Girls and his last two movies, this is awesome. John Cena and LeBron James kill in this movie as well as the various notable cameos. If you have to see this or Ant-Man it's most definitely this.

It's been what, four-five straight years where women dominate the summer comedy market with higher quality films than males.
I can easily see Schumer, McCarthy, Wiig, and Rose Byrne, continuing this run another 5-7 years.
**Far as Schumer, I think she's a potential game changer. She's prettier than her current counterparts without being a barbie doll, has strong feminist leanings, is very outspoken, and has legit stand up skills. Seems like she's poised to open the doors a little wider.
Schumer is a major talent... but I wouldn't be surprised if Wiig gets an Oscar nom in the next 3-5 years. She keeps trying these indie movies, and she's good in them too-- one of them is bound to strike a chord with the Academy.

It's weird to see such a progressive and edgy voice as Schumer's get smothered by Act 3 by typically conservative rom com gender dynamics.
And it doesn't help that Apatow does his normal "let-the-film-feel-three-hours-long" editing.
But I laughed a *lot.* Schumer's genuinely terrific, but the Lebron and John Cena stuff had me howling. I could've also just spent the entire time at that men's magazine, with Swinton, Glaser, Park, Bayer, and Schumer.

Schumer killed it, Hader killed it, Bron killed it (seriously,) and shout out to Colin Quinn for being the crochety old man he's always been, but for real now.
And kudos for leaving the two most annoying lines from the trailer out of the movie.

I felt it was way too long and the pacing was weird to me. The relationship with Hader and Schumer was weird too. They went on one date, then it was yeah we're together for 6 weeks.

man, that's just the shit off the top of my head. I'll agree that it has that "Apatow Gets Final Cut" issue of being a little too long, but I'd say it earns it. And they fucking KILLED the transition into and out of the funeral. Perfect blend of real enough to hit home while still having blasts of humor.
Fuck all this dumb shit about the ending betraying feminist ideals. Was the shit funny? YES.
It was sorely needed after watching Carol which was pretty boring
