The acting is excellent and I hope we see Benedict Cumberbatch with an Oscar nomination for his role as Alan Turing. The casting is a bit too glamorous for my liking but okay, its cinema. Kiera Knightly once again shows a pretty face but quite limited range of acting.
The director manages multiple plot threads and does tie them together in the non-linear plot structure. However, due to the multiple story lines (all of them interesting) the pacing of the film I felt is slow.
It is a fantastic story based around the breaking of the Enigma machine which shortened WW2 as well as the private personal life of Alan Turing who was homosexual which in the 1940s was considered an act of gross indecency and could lead to chemical castration.
Looking forward to hearing other peoples views on this film.

I've heard that much of the story in the film is made up, which is quite a shame considering how interesting the real story is.
The book that this was supposedly based on, "Alan Turing: the Enigma", by Andrew Hodges, is reputed to be one of the best science biographies ever written. I've been meaning to read it for a long time.

and I can't recommend it to anyone because of the horrible inaccuracies. It's one thing to gloss over subtleties. It's a whole separate kettle of fish to say that he was a traitor* and was suspected of being a spy. That's fucked up.
Spoiler in footnote below:
*It is an act of treason for him to have protected the guy giving information to the Soviets, even though the Soviets were allied with England. This is complete bullshit. Turing never met the guy. It really pisses me off that they are maligning him.
