"F' Black Panther, Based Wesley Snipes is bringing Blade back"
Fri Aug-29-14 09:44 AM by BigReg

http://comicbook.com/blog/2014/08/29/wesley-snipes-reportedly-returning-for-a-fourth-blade-movie/

Mind you this could all be a ploy by him to drum up interest. But I think the Blade series has legs particularly in a world where Underworld has 3(!!!) sequels (with one on the way) that all makes bank

If they keep it in line of the first and second movie it should be great. Keep it down to like ONE sidekick, a hammed up villain, a simple plot, and lots o' violence and we are ready to go. They should use the recent (and heavily underrated) Judge Dredd reboot as a guide.

bc how do you tie in that world in the avengers world. it could be the 1st movie that wouldn't be attached to that world and I have a hard time seeing that happens in phase 3 which goes out until 2020

Rendering the whole point of the movie kinda moot.

I guess they could indeed go the NetFlix route, but I don't think original horror series have a particularly good track record with NetFlix. "Hemlock" was DOA, right?

LMAO Right now...unless the movie makes a surprise grip of money overseas, the most Wesley is getting out of that "backend" is enough money to buy a few buckets of fried chicken and large sides from KFC cause, um yeah, Expendables 3 IS A BOMB...

I'd truly be shocked it this made CLOSE to what the second did...IF THAT.

yea Spike TV tried with Sticky Fingaz which wasn't horrible...but wasn't great by any stretch of the word.

Let Netflix GO IN...incorporate BLADE into their fabric of New York City, find a way to incorporate him in with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil, etc. and GO IN that way.

I mean, none of us are going to agree on a successor to Wesley and Wesley's jail stint (i.e. he needs to rebuild his career ya'll know damn well he needs to rebuild and that will take time and his getting older is making the prospect of him coming back as BLADE real unlikely...

Make Blade a TV show and give Wesley Snipes an EP credit/involve him in some way and it would work....

..that way...you can

- give a nod to the originals

- have a feasible explanation for how Blade acquired his "skills" as a fighter and vampire hunter beyond his powers

- you have now established a segue-way for Wesley to be an "active consultant" in the fight choreography

- you have established a segue-way for Wesley to also have dialogue and *fight scenes" as well..

If you're gonna reboot it...might as well reboot it all the way...

Whistler can now be Blade's "sensei" and mentor/partner as opposed to just being his weaponsmith....

this could easily work. and SHIT, bring N'bushe Wright back as Dr. Karen Jensen and she can have a very nice series regular role as the doctor who's always working on finding a better serum for Black, and by proxy, Snipes as Whistler-Blade to keep his urges in check.

Remember, he told her at the end of Blade 1 to keep working on a serum. So, for all intensive purposes, the reboot could be her still being a doctor but running some kind of high tech lab dedicated to the fight against vampires (since it was assumed that vampires were taking over in all three films) and have her come out and join Blade and Whistler-Blade on a few missions since we all know she can handle herself and kick ass....

anyway to get N'bushe BACK on folks screens, large and small, is a PLUS!

Marvel's Black Panther Movie Confirmed By Stan Lee

Marvel's Black Panther Movie Confirmed By Stan Lee image
How much does Stan "The Man" Lee know about Marvel’s pending film slate? I mean, Stan Lee IS Marvel. Without him, there would be no Cinematic Universe, no characters on which to base these amazing Marvel films that audiences are flocking to (in record-setting fashion). But is the 91-year-old comic-book legend up to date on all of Marvel’s moving pieces? Because if he is, then he just confirmed a Black Panther movie.

Stan Lee was speaking at the Fan Expo Canada on Friday (via Comic Book Resources), and let it slip that the Black Panther movie indeed was happening (instead of being this juicy rumor that no one at Marvel will confirm just yet). When addressing the question of whether or not Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow character soon will get her own solo movie, Lee explained:

The chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies. They are already working on Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and the Black Panther, and there are others I am not allowed to talk about."

Oh Stan, you tease. Let’s talk about his comments. Obviously, we know all about Ant-Man. After a director shuffle, that movie recently began filming in San Francisco with Peyton Reed at the helm, and a cast that includes Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly (to name just a few).

The other two titles that Stan Lee dropped, however, are eye-catching… if only because Marvel hasn’t solidified anything on its Cinematic Universe schedule beyond Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1, 2015), Captain America 3 (May 6, 2016) and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (July 28, 2017). There has been a lot of movement surrounding Doctor Strange. Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Deliver Us From Evil) has been tapped to helm the movie, with Jon Spaihts hired to work on the screenplay. There have been rumors that Strange will land in the July 8, 2016 date circled by Marvel, but nothing has been announced… and likely won’t until Marvel locks up its leading man for Doctor Strange.

What about Black Panther? Does Stan Lee know for sure that Black Panther is next? It’s highly likely that he’s at least aware of the characters that are capable of carrying their own film, and are part of Marvel’s Phase Three. We have been hearing that the menacing Ultron will have to travel to Black Panther’s home land of Wakanda to pick up valuable resources in Joss Whedon’s sequel. But it’s unclear if an actor will have been cast to play the hero T’Challa in a Marvel movie for this potential cameo. Get On Up and 42 standout Chadwick Boseman has dropped hints that he’d like to play the character on screen, but has he met with Marvel? Right now, it’s all a big smoke screen.

Stan Lee’s comments piqued our interests. Given the expanding slate of the Marvel universe, there has been so much speculation. Will Ms. Marvel finally get a movie? Will Black Widow or Hawkeye graduate to starring status? Could a player from the burgeoning Marvel/Netflix universe leap to the big screen? Based on what Lee has said, Black Panther is coming sooner than the rest, and one more of Marvel’s vacant release slots will be filled before we know it.

>SankofaII, you wanna take this one?

there's nothing to tell with this.

Stan IS Marvel...but we all know he's not in the DAY TO DAY Marvel functions, etc.

That's all Kevin Feige, who runs Marvel Entertainment. And *HE* is the one who is in charge of putting out these properties as films.

Until Feige gives a RELEASE DATE for Black Panther, Stan can talk himself until he's blue in the face. He doesn't know what's going on with the movies.

I've been pretty upfront about the fact that all the BP hype is pointless if there's no RELEASE DATE set for the movie.

Chad Boseman can hint that he wants to play the role, Marvel can tease that Avengers 2 is going to Wakanda...doesn't matter.

If there's no RELEASE DATE for Black Panther, it's not happening.

And UNTIL we get a release date, niggas need to stop with the back and forth over this movie.

I think we ALL know where Feige stands regarding Black Panther and his ducking and dodging every time BP is brought up...he'll most definitely hedge on shooting this because he really doesn't think BP will make money at the box office because he's falling lock, step and in line with the belief that black movies don't do well internationally, etc.

so we'll see...but no release date = NO MOVIE IS COMING. Give a hard and fast release date, we can talk...

Look above. And find that long ass Black Panther post that's probably been archived.

Niggas argued each other over BP coming out and how it needs to come out because everyone wants it..when it's CLEAR Feige isn't keen on putting it out, etc.

I said this and gave reasons why and niggas went off. SMH

Yet here we are, we see all these dates for future Marvel movies for Phase 3, and not much is said in regard to where Black Panther will fit in Phase 3...if it's even coming in Phase 3....

Marvel will not make a sequel to the New Line "Blade" films. If anything, they'll reboot. Casting Wesley = sequel. Marvel may offer him a role in the reboot, but he will not be the titular character.

Not even RDJ nailed their character that well.

Wesley was perfectly cast as Blade, but RDJ OWNS Tony Stark and Iron Man. I never saw the need to make this comparison, but no one has done a comic character better than RDJ'S Tony/Ironman

SHHHHHH they aren't listening AT ALL...but let niggas cook.

BOTH Snipes and RDJ BROUGHT as Blade and Iron Man respectively. RDJ OWNS Iron Man/Tony Stark

and Snipes will ALWAYS BE BLADE..doesn't matter WHO you get to take his place. Snipes will FOREVER BE BLADE.

rdj was the personification of tony stark

let me explain...

the character of blade was pretty much a blank slate prior to the movies (more of a type than a deeply developed character...soul brother with green goggles and wooden blades hunting vampires)

snipes came in and brought in his "action hero mode". His blade wasn't THAT much different from the dude he played in passenger 57, which wasn't THAT much different than him in Sugar Hill or Waiting to Exhale or Nino in New Jack City. All have the same basic attitude. Wesley plays every role pretty much the same with subtle nuances. Later, they tailored the written character to be more in line with the way he was played by Snipes

Alternately, Tony Stark as the brilliant, charming, snarky, arrogant, devil-may-care, yet troubled playboy is how the character has always been written (with a little 007 twist during the Micheline/Layton days, but that's a small digression) and they picked the perfect dude to personify him in RDJ because HE is all that too

THAT is the difference and neither is bad (or even better/worse independent of personal preference)
