Was part of the Jamie Foxx camp and a host on Foxx's "The Foxxhole" Sirius XM channel...
...until he ran a gay host, B. Scott, off the network and then called Jamie all kinds of, uh, maggots with an "F" (nd not just as a general insult - he went into detail stirring up the "Jamie FOxx is gay" rumors) after GLAAD came in to "supervise" his show, which was eventually cancelled when The Foxxhole went on hiatus.
His standup act is primarily around him dogging women, and I thought it was funny before it became apparent that it might be a little more than just an act.

i can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is. i think he sells earnestness and charm really well with just his voice. i feel a lot of sincerity when he speaks
he was the best voice over artist in GTA V by a mile and that game had some amazing voice acting. the character he played in that game (lamar) was conniving, covetous, and full of jealousy but still likable. some of that was the writing but i think it was mostly slink johnson's performance. his character in black jesus is at least as likable as the character he played in GTA V because jesus is basically the complete opposite of lamar. jesus is supportive, positive, and sincere, all of which are things that play to johnson's abilities as an actor
i really liked the first episode and am really interested in seeing where they go with this series. writers can do a lot with a character that can sell charm and sincerity to the audience

the show had a positive message in the end and slink was very believable as Jesus -forgiving people and showing unconditional love to people. Slink was definitely a great casting choice to play Black Jesus. i agree on the idea of it being a parable. I love how the show doesn't make fun of the idea of being a Christian, but it makes fun of the fair weather Christians. A lot of them have put some kind of condition on their relationship with Jesus, and want something out of it. Except the young guy, who seems to be really earnest and trusting. But nobody takes him seriously
show works on multiple levels, but overall its just pretty much throwing the base ideas back in modern humanity's face and being reaaally fucking funny at the same time (i think one review called it a "good-natured stoner hangout comedy" and not a Christian bash-fest as was expected cos of McGruder's involvement).
Slink makes the whole thing for me, honestly. the way dude plays it is so endearing and kinda influential, like i've actually found myself being nicer to ppl who do me wrong and im being more forgiving n shit lol. feels good.
