But I loved Man on Fire so I'll be here for this one. Always good to see Denzel is ass kicking mode. I like the Sherlock Holmes-esque fight stuff. Should be fun.

Leon - The Professional the 90s film which made Jean Reno a huge star along with a young Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman.

The Equalizer probably isn't like the film i just compared it to but the trailer makes it seem very derivative.

Although I did appreciate the fact that they kept the White girl out of the majority of the picture.

I just found out hard to care about Denzel's missions.

Not that the 3rd act was original but it got so intense. I was not expecting it to get so gory. It definitely made me appreciate more, it almost turned into a horror film lol.

His best bad guy work since Kingdom of Heaven

I liked the 2 conversation scenes between him & Honey Patcher at his crib & at the table more than any of the action stuff

Could've done w/o the cliche no look walk away from the explosion & the shooting in the rain bits but other than that I dug it

3rd act as Zoo said was too muck like Home Alone for my liking.

Otherwise give my nigga a gun instead of booby traps in the sequel.

But go see John Wick instead. Very entertaining and delivers the goods.

i think it was the abundance of needlessly slo-mo Denzel that took it over the edge lol. but it all felt like a been there done that kinda thing. the performances were fine, but i think i had a problem with the directing more than anything else.

They didn't lessen my enjoyment of the film all that much though. I firmly believe they have a Bourne-level franchise on their hands.

There's was no action or explanation for the first 25 minutes, just Denzel getting ready and going to work.

The first 'big fight' with Slavi was ridiculous. When they put everything in super slow motion to show "how fast" he's thinking - well it just seems slow.

And the *all* the fights seemed pretty slow too.

Denzel seemed to relish looking into people's dying eyes more than I'd have liked.

At the end when Denzel shoots Nikoli with a nail gun - um - why didn't he pick up a gun from one of the dead guys and use that? It'd have been much more efficient.

And the Russian mansion scene was so implausible that even as a part of a revenge fantasy flick I was questioning the logistics.

This seems like a really bad spy novel paperback.

This is one of those films that might have been better with half the budget.
- Cut the "Equalizer Vision" moments, especially since they had him noticing the stuff before it anyway.
- Give it a grittier look instead of the high gloss, so many dolly/crane shots. Fuqua shot inner city Boston the same way he shot the beautiful house of the CIA agent (and was Bill Pullman originally someone that Pushkin paid because it seemed like he was up to something and, you know, it's Bill Pullman, but it was a nothing part.)

Also, the song choice for the final action scene was all wrong.

Still, Denzel and Csokas made it worthwhile. Felt like a less inspired version of Man on Fire.

Extremely entertaining. Denzel is fantastic.
And I agree with 1 being the best minus the first like 10 mins.
