"The next X-Men movie announced: "X-Men: Apocalypse""

X-Men: Apocalypse Set for May 27, 2016!
Source: Bryan Singer
December 5, 2013

In a surprise move, Bryan Singer today revealed the title of the next chapter of 20th Century Fox's popular X-Men franchise. May 27, 2016 will see the release of X-Men: Apocalypse!

Apocalypse, created by Louise and Walter Simonson, made his debut in X-Factor #6. The world's first mutant, En Sabah Nur was born in Egypt around 3,000 BC and used advanced technology to make himself an eternal conquerer, believing whole heartedly in survival of the fittest.

The character's most popular storyline, "The Age of Apocalypse," ran in the X-Men books beginning in 1995. Set in a parallel reality formed by interference to the timeline, "The Age of Apocalypse" saw Professor Charles Xavier murdered before he could form the X-Men. Instead, a very different take on the team began with Magneto leading them through a post-apocalyptic America ruled by mutants.

Since next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past involves a time travel storyline, it's likely that a filmic take on "The Age of Apocalypse" could spin out of the new film's ending. It's certainly something that 20th Century Fox has considered as ComingSoon.net has learned that domains like www.ageofapocalypsemovie.com have been registered by the studio for years. What's more, Singer's new film is set to introduce key "Age of Apocalypse" characters like Bishop (Omar Sy) and Blink (Bingbing Fan).

At this stage, however, all that's confirmed is the May 27, 2016 release date, which puts X-Men: Apocalypse up against Walt Disney Pictures' Alice in Wonderland 2.

X-Men: Days of Future Past, meanwhile, hits the big screen May 23, 2014.

AOA was a great run in the X-Men cannon IMHO but I feel like the turn of seeing some heroes as totally villians may be much. Also with the span of how that world was and the fact that minor characters in the regular comic had major roles may throw a lot of people off.

Other than that if the next film is an AOA film I'm all in. They better make sure they have Creed (Sabertooth) and Wild childs

http://collider.com/bryan-singer-x-men-apocalypse-first-class/

Last week, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer tweeted that in 2016, the franchise would continue with X-Men: Apocalypse. We assumed that since he tweeted that information, he would be directing the film. Vulture has now confirmed that Singer will be returning to helm the sequel, making it his first back-to-back franchise venture since X-Men and X2. Furthermore, Days of Future Past will lead directly into X-Men: Apocalypse, and the new film is intended to focus strictly on the younger McAvoy-Fassbender cast. So where does that leave the franchise superstar Wolverine? Perhaps off on another solo adventure? Either way, it looks like DOFP will probably be a bit of a cliffhanger, so Im glad Singer will be staying at the helm as the series moves to its next chapter (assuming DOFP is good, and as someone who thinks X2 is the best film in the franchise, I think it will be).

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, 2014. X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27, 2016.

I need what if? animated films rated R.

They need an X-Treme X-Men spinoff movie.

We need a depowered movie as well.

This movie sounds dope. It's not complete if we don't see Cable or the askani.

http://collider.com/x-men-apocalypse-news-bryan-singer/

Director Bryan Singer is returning to the X-Men franchise with this summers star-studded X-Men: Days of Future Past, and if things go his way this wont be his last foray with the X-Men universe. A few months ago, Singer made the surprising announcement that 20th Century Fox was already moving forward with a Days of Future Past follow-up called X-Men: Apocalypse, which now has a release date of May 27, 2016. Little is known about Apocalypse other than the fact that it will focus more on the First Class cast rather than the Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart versions of the characters, but we do know that Singer intends to take the helm of Apocalypse as well. Additionally, hes brought on X2 scribes Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty to help pen the script alongside DOFP writer Simon Kinberg.

Singer recently spoke a bit about X-Men: Apocalypse, confirming that he intends to direct the pic and revealing that the follow-up will explore the deep origins of mutants. Hit the jump for more, including whether we can expect a tease of Apocalypse in DOFP.

Speaking with EW, Singer confirmed that hes currently in negotiations to direct X-Men: Apocalypse:

Im co-writing the story and Im producing it. Im negotiating to direct. Were in the process. Were trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it.

The filmmaker is currently pulling double-duty, finishing up post-production on Days of Future Past while prepping the screenplay for Apocalypse. Even so, he says he hasnt fully decided whether DOFP will include a tease for Apocalypse:

Im still deciding . Something that happens in this movie causes whats going to happen in that movie.

In other words, expect something. As for what the story for X-Men: Apocalypse entails, Singer says the film will delve into mutant origins:

It will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. Its something thats always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers.

This isnt an incredibly surprising notion, given that in the comics the titular Apocalypse was an immortal mutantpossibly the first everwho had his roots in ancient Egypt. Hopefully well have a better idea of what to expect once weve seen Days of Future Past, but for now this is pretty exciting stuff. X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May.

Filmmaker Bryan Singer has released a first look at actor Kodi Smit-Mcphee in makeup as Kurt Wagner, better known as the X-Men's Nightcrawler, from the forthcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse, which starts filming...well, apparently pretty soon, as Singer says it's the first day on set.

The character was previously depicted by Alan Cumming in X2: X-Men United.

You can check out video, embedded via Twitter, below.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be in theaters on May 27, 2016. It's directed by Singer and stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult.

Not even going into how ridiculous that haircut is what sucks about the Xmen movies is how bad the character fanservice has been.

Since the first movie all they've done is throw as many fan favorite characters at the screen but relegated them to at BEST one line in a movie...most of the time they are slightly out of frame either nodding knowingly at an order given by a character the writers actually care about, or fighting in the background.

They need to put characters on the shelf until they can actually work them in correctly and make the appearance count (ie, Quicksilver)

They gonna milk that A level actress status for all they got.

As a comic geek I like the fact it looks like we get a horsement storyline with presumably Archangel. However I have to admit outside the spirited casting of Fassbender this series of X-movies has generally left me cold. They aren't as bad as X-Men 1 or 3, but it seems they struggle to almost reach the greatness of 2 and fail each time.

X-Men 1 also had the benefit of being the first of the new rush of superhero films so I really liked it at the time.

I think this has the benefit of having a powerful villain. Xavier makes the movies difficult since so much of the focus is: "Well, if I can just get his mask off..." One of the reasons X2 is the best IMO is because Xavier is captured and the other X-Men have to fend for themselves.

Although, in general, I think they'd be better off doing more of the smaller missions with just a couple of X-Men. Like Nightcrawler and Wolverine vs. Wendigo. The Wolverine had the right idea; I just think they fucked it up. But it's just a shame that Fox has the rights to so many cool characters and just makes full team movies.

>But it's just a

The thing is even when its some cataclysmic 'THE WORLD IS GONNA END' stakes in various storylines in the comics it ALWAYS boils down to interpersonal issues with the X-men. Its why all the badguys are good guys half the time or they've got DEEP history with some of the heroes so its more then 'Stop the badguy from enacting his evil plan'

Outside of mags vs xavier the new movies don't do this well at because it's always way too clunky with characters and plot and it doesn't have to be that way. Strip them down to the core and let the humanity of the characters, what the comic does so well, shine through.

X2 worked because like you said they took Xavier out so other scenes worked better because they were more personal; the kids looking shocked at Wolverine actually murking fools in the raids, the way Magneto and Mystique flirted and brought Pyro around to their way of thinking, Bobby 'coming out' to his parents, etc.

It was all about Wolverine & Rogue, now it's Magneto & Mystique.

They don't care about the story, just make sure those characters get plenty of screen time and show a couple of cool effects; continuity and character development be damned.

This looks ok, but my expectations are very low.

I have a huge X-Men bias, they are my favorite comic book characters, but that trailer was really awesome. I thought the same of X-Men: Days of Future Past, and that delivered, so I have no reason to think this will not follow suit.

He's worked with movies with a large number of characters (The Incredibles, MI:IV) so he could develop a decent plot and his movies have really good action sequences.

Singer needs a good cinematographer to just hand the blocking over to because outside of the opening sequence in X2, I don't remember any action sequences that were memoriable.

In response to Reply # 52

I know why she does but.....Mystique was never strong enough as a character to deserve this much time in the foreground.

Here's hoping that Fox takes a break after this film and the next Wolverine. Most of the OG cast is already gone and this version of the X-Men has become stale.

They could always come back years later with The Uncanny X-Men. It's not like there aren't other stories left to adapt.

Thought Adams was more convincing. I felt an actress like Emily Blunt would of been better suited for the role. I got real confused when people started saying she was going to win best supporting actress that year over lupita in 12 years a slave.

They have a property that is ready made to be made into different films and they have failed to get it kicked off. Nevermind that the source material does have countless stories with just one or two X-Men venturing out by themselves and not everything is the full team.

Plus, I'd like to see some of the other characters get more shine than they get in the full team films (and, obviously, a Gambit movie.)

Honestly, I don't see the argument against making standalone movies besides a knee jerk "Not everything has to be the Avengers!" argument.

Fox is quite obviously NOT making a Storm film, so outside of Wolverine, you make what??? A Professor X film? Magneto: The Disco Years? Beast in Good Ape Hunting?

The reason they haven't spun them off is because they don't have characters that could anchor a tentpole film by themselves.

They weren't marquee players in the Marvel universe, now people are hype about a potential Black Widow movie and we get Dr Strange this year. There's plenty of scope in the Mutant universe, even if they start by using the different teams like X-Force, X-Factor so that characters can be built without having to carry a film on their own.

Just IMO though.

In response to Reply # 88

If you can't think of a way to make any X-Men movies besides the big group ones, then you're really not thinking at all.

- Wolverine is obvious.
- Gambit is obvious and close to happening with Channing Tatum.
- Magneto was supposed to have an X-Men Origins in which he hunted down Nazis but the Writer's Strike happened and they ultimately folded the story into First Class.
- Storm could have a movie.
- Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique is more than enough to anchor a movie.

They put Colossus in the Deadpool movie. You could do smaller horror type film with Wolverine and Nightcrawler battling Wendigo. Do a Day of the Jackal type movie with Lady Deathstrike and maybe a few X-Men trying to stop her.

There are countless options. Marvel's making 2 - 3 movies a year and Fox can't figure out how to stretch the X-Men into even one movie a year? It's not that hard.

Blech. She gets far too much shine and significance in these as it is. She's had more than enough play IMO...but I will say they missed a big opportunity here with her, Nightcrawler and Rogue.

and yet they have yet to age the actors. The next one after this has been announced to take place in the 90s (1992 apparently), and yet everyone in the cast and their retrospective characters are eternally in their 20 and 30s, when they should be looking more and more like the actors in the original films.

I mean shit Fassbender's Magneto should be about 60 in the next one, yet still looks and acts 35.

A network exec told me that and I wouldn't be totally stunned if that wasn't partly behind the push for the movies being in different decades. A 90's X-Men movie! Cool! And the nostalgia factor is an added draw.

First Class was saved by superb casting that let you forget boring plot points (anything involving young Mystique) and lackluster special effects/fight pieces (Zoey Kravitz had Mothra-esque special effects).

Second Class upped the special effects+making Wolvie one of the main characters is always a good thing but the plot was nonsensical and Mystique felt forced into the storylines as if they were like, "WE GOTTA USE THE BIGGEST STAR IN THE CAST" without actually writing for her.

The sad thing is that Singer is responsible for what is still arguably the comic movie genre highlight, X2. But these have been shadows of his previous work and he needs to move on I think

All I can hope for is with Deadpool beating the odds of being good AND making money, they branch off with new directors/scriptwriters.

I'd possibly buy into the conspiracy theory that Disney pays critics off. lol Look at how much praise they get and Star Wars did as well while these other studios movies get bashed before they open. But it is an issue with quality. I liked DOFP quite a bit so I'm hoping this is as good or better but its looking more and more of a X3 fiasco...

Also Deadpool ruins that theory as well as it got critically praised, so mainly getting writers and directors with clear visions of what they need to do. The casting for X-men has been fine for the most part.

Unless Fox pays off critics too: First Class got 87%, DOFP got 91% (!!!), The Wolverine got 70%, Deadpool got 83%.

This'll be the first negatively reviewed X-Men film on Rotten Tomatoes since X-Men Origins seven years ago.

I can't recommend that people need to see this shit either.

Storm, Archangel, and Psyloche are pretty much non existent characters. Same goes for Jubilee who's been shitted on the most this whole franchise. And Storm's turn was...sudden. And LOLOLOL at Psyloche's heavy handed final shot. I hope Olivia Munn understands NO ONE is trying to see a Psyloche spin-off.

Magneto's flip flop back and forth is old now as well.

Apocalypse was a dumb villian as well.

The only thing I really, really liked was last scene in the film. Y'all see why, but I think we're finally past that retrograde early 2000s look with a certain aspect.

But yea nigga. It's time for Bryan Singer to hand this over to someone else.

Beast has nothing to do really. Mystique has nothing to do and it shows in Jennifer's performance.

Moria MacTagert is basically just there after her first two scenes.

Nightcrawler is basically there to get everyone out of a jam when need be.

Can we all agree that Simon Kinberg is a shit writer?

DoFP was way better to me. Characters weren't really developed here. I saw bwood's post about Jubilee and had to google to see cuz couldn't place her at all.

A friend of mine loved it and had me hyped a little, but he's a huge X-Men comic nerd and I think just loves seeing anything onscreen.. He told me I had to wait for the stinger at the end which I didn't really get altho assume some new evil corporation will use Wolverine's blood for more evil. Sigh, been done before and doesn't get me excited about another one.

I dunno what people wanted her to do.

There's no reason for her presence in the movie aside from a shout out to fans of the 90's cartoon.

The character was a waste of screen time as it is and in an ensemble like this it's completely absurd to complain about her getting minimal screen time.

Unless you can point to an actual example of racist treatment of her her character aside from giving the character more screen time than it ever warranted to begin with, calling the treatment of Jubilee "racist" is a pretty egregious misapplication of the term.

From the first film on, it's pretty much pretty white people. The only positive about The Last Stand is that they gave Storm a bigger role in a movie with a shit script and a average director for hire. Whether or not you like Jubilee or may think her powers are useless, she could've done alot more than what Rose Byrne did in that final fight. She is a popular character who for 4 movies now has been shoved in the background. She's a popular Asian character at that.

These fucking films feel like hitting a diversity quota by using notable characters of color as window dressing.

Its 100% unreasonable to expect her to have anything more than a cameo as it is.

Oh she's popular?

No.

She's nostalgia.

She's never been a significant character.

Storm is a different story entirely especially since her leadership position was basically given to wack ass mystique and even then, much as I think mystique is equally useless in these movies at least they're trying to capitalize on Jennifer Lawrence.

Yeah there's a discussion to be had about the way the minimialized an important black character who should have a leadership role while disproportionately elevating a white utility character. We can talk about how the general misuse of minority characters of actual significance because you're 100% correct in that issue.

But THAT is the discussion.

NOT wack ass Jubilee.

Oh she's Asian? Cool. So what? Why exactly did the CHARACTER deserve a bigger role besides being Asian?

Because she's "popular"? Note how you cite her being "popular" and not "significant".

Because if Jubilee were white you wouldn't give an affirmative action fuck and you would be complaining about how useless she was. The actual CHARACTER was lucky to get the cameo slot she got.

There are Jubilee fans whether you believe it or not. And I agree having a character people enjoy (you don't so you can't really hold that against the character) keep being relagated to a background character is fucked up. I'd say the same shit even if she was white. Sorry, but them the brakes.

I'm good on this discussion though. If you don't like the character fine. But that doesn't rule out that she should used properly. For a movie that's about acceptance, there's no denying that the minorities constantly get the short end of the stick.

Edit: And what I mean in the title of this post is that almost every character in this movie is just there.

You completely ignore that she's a very minor character who's core popularity is pretty much limited to "oh yeah she was also in that cartoon from the 90's".

The character just plain doesn't matter in any significant way. Being Asian doesn't change that and it doesn't suddenly necessitate that they do anything at all with her.

So yes, your outrage at the "racist" treatment of her when you can't point out a single thing that they did with her that was actually racist is a reach.

If you'd made that comment about Storm and pointed out how she IS an extremely significant character and how her leadership position has essentially been given to Mystique, a character of not only comparatively less significance but one who is significantly less powerful, then you'd have a perfectly valid point.

But you chose Jubilee... a minor character who just plain doesn't matter on any noteworthy level in an ensemble cast. She got a nice lil cameo. Cool. I would have enjoyed seeing her get some tick but where do they shoehorn her in? I agree that Mora is basically a useless character and I agree that I'd rather see a mutant- ANY mutant- given her screen time.

And I *like* Jubilee. Hell I was annoyed that they basically wrote her character into Rogue in the first X flick. Frankly I think she'd have been a great addition to Wolverine 3. Wolverine is an incredibly interesting character in these movies in two situations: when he's on a murderous rampage and murking people left and right, and his relationships with women. Jubilee would have been great for that particularly since there's rumblings that W3 may include X-23.

I completely get the sentiment here but saying her treatment is racist doesn't really jive with her actual role in the movie or her significance to the franchise. Storm is the character where this is extremely glaring and it's nonexistent with Jubilee.

thy get a couple lines when you meet them and then it's almost entirely reaction shots from then on.

it's hard to say it's racism because you can blame incompetence for so many things, but I think there's enough there for someone to make the connection if they want to.

There are some story/timeline problems, FC and DoFP were better, but this one delivered quite a few character moments that really hit home as an X-Men fan:

-The team coming together to destroy Apocalypse at the end was the best scene of the film IMO. Everyone was in on that and it was very reminiscent of the animated series and many a comic book fight with the big villains.

-Weapon X Wolverine FTW!

-Despite Fassbender Magneto's story being reset with each of the last 2 films, they do remain rather interesting.

-Psylocke may not have had a lot to do, but damn if Olivia Munn didn't fit the bill as one of the most comic book accurate looking characters of the entire X-Men film franchise (save Professor X, Deadpool, and Deadpool's Colossus, off the top of my head).

-For as good as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, isn't it funny how much better Fox got Quicksilver in both of these movies? It's as if they made the deal that Marvel would get Scarlet Witch and Fox would get Quicksilver.

-That final scene of them in the danger room with uniforms that more closely resemble (still not perfect by any means) the comic book uniforms was also very, very cool to see.

And I think they should give this to a new director.

Apocalypse was kind of wasted here. We never got any sort of motivation for him outside of "prophecy" and Oscar Issac was wasted. Outside of Magneto the other horsemen were non-factors. That said, the action sequences were pretty well-done. It's worth watching on streaming/HBO when it eventually gets there, but I don't know if I'd recommend 2.5 hours in the theater seeing it.

I haven't even thought about the timeline from the previous films and how it's going to work going forward, because I assume we're just going to be ignoring that.

I don't really care about the reveal at the end of the credits either way. I assume this will be for the third Wolverine film and not the next X-Men?

Not a train wreck but there are some glaring, recursive missteps.

-Apocalypse is entirely uninteresting. He was a bland, one note villain and this is particularly glaring considering Magneto is in this movie and Fassbender made some decent chicken salad from weakly written chicken shit.

Further, he’s SUCH A FUCKING ALPHA IN THE X-MEN CANNON. He should have been the Darkseid of this the X universe.

-Both AOA and DOFP are event movies that should have either been built to or come in two parts to really hit home. They have so many characters crammed into stories that deserve more time to develop. They should be dropping an X movie a year if they want this to really work.

An entire film could have been made surrounding the recruitment of Cyclops and Jean with Havok at the center, for starters. Since they seem reluctant to do that with anyone aside from Wolverine, they should have went with a full on X Men film focused on the recruitment of Jean, Nightcrawler, Angel, and Storm- and YES, Jubilee (yes, there’s a huge distinction between the falty notion that her minimal role was somehow racist in light of her actual significance and the lost opportunity to capitalize on the nostalgic affection many of us have while Apocalypse was recruiting his Horsemen, perhaps even showcasing the battle for Angel, Psylocke, and Magneto in that film.

I mean, whatever. I’m spit balling here. The point is that Fox clearly doesn’t understand how to properly maximize this franchise. At least WB is showing some balls and ambition with DC and *trying* to maximize the potential of such rich IP. They’re at least managing things in real time and adjusting things to correct course on their missteps.

Marvel has built a sprawling, breathing universe. Fox has tremendous character depth but absolutely NO vision. Hell, they fucking got lucky with Deadpool given how much of a back burner project it was for so long. Thank you based test footage- and Ryan Reynolds- for that one.

And that’s the real disappointment here, because they got the X-Men team elements right in many regards. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the third act and I generally enjoyed the psychic battle between Charles and Apocalypse. The final bit with Jean was a little forced but leaves me a little intrigued going forward with her. But watching this team work together and fight for each other is the heart of what these movies should be and they did well in that regard. Still… I fucking loathe the fact that Mystique has been given the role Storm should be playing in this, particularly since she’s not doing anything particularly interesting.

All in all it’s clear that Fox went too big too soon and blew through too many major events too quickly. My guess is Onslaught isn’t too far away and that’s another one they should have had planned out 6 movies in advance but they’ll one shot it in a rush like the rest of these.

As someone who thought that everything First Class and DOFP was trying to do felt very "been there, done that," at least this movie at times feels like it's reaching. Things like Magneto destroying Auschwitz, the disarmament of the world, the very real worldwide destruction at the end-- they're definitely going for something beyond the usual Martin vs. Malcolm thing here. There's religion here, not to mention past vs. future.

I didn't hate Isaac like most people here-- he's pretty one-note, but that's par for the course for the overwhelming majority of good and bad guy characters alike for the entire franchise. At least his note-- "I am a God" (c) Yeezy-- intrigues me, and his powers aren't to be fucked with.

Most anything involving characters who aren't Magneto, Quicksilver, and Apocalypse is worthless. Mystique plotline worthless. Professor X bumbling over Moira is *cringeworthy.* Beast is garbage (it's amazing that The Last Stand is *still* the best version of Beast we've gotten). Storm has next to nothing after a promising opening scene. Psylocke looks just like the fucking character, but she is given nothing to do at all. Cyclops and Jean have no chemistry, no intrigue, no nothing.

Still, I think it's the same as the last two movies: relentlessly overstuffed, packed to the brim with CGI of varying degrees of quality, fairly one-note across the board save for Magneto, action fairly rudimentary save for Magneto and Quicksilver. I could make an argument that the sheer bigness and weirdness of this movie makes it more memorable to me than the last two-- I remember basically *nothing* about DOFP-- but I'm sure that won't be a good thing to many (especially those who remember DOFP fondly). Most of these movies only elevate to great for a scene or two, and they're happy to languish in the mediocre-to-fine range for the rest of the films. The one-note characters and bland performances in the majority of the roles (not helped by the writing in the last several films) definitely don't help matters.

My rankings are still:
1: X2.
2-whatever: eh.
Last: X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I went in with low expectations and enjoyed it more than I thought, but it could have been a lot better. Isaac was fine but I wanted Apocalypse to be more physically imposing (he's short as hell). I also don't remember a damn thing about DOFP other than the Quicksilver scene and the shot of Toad looking all ugly and sweaty in a fast food kitchen at the end (because my friend and I busted out laughing at that).

Psylocke did nothing but look pretty and split a car in half. I'm still waiting for a dope action scene with Cyclops, he again didn't do much. The Weapon X sequence was pretty dope. Apocalypse's powers were kinda dope. Jean turning into Phoenix at the end was pretty dope. Other than those, the action was pretty underwhelming.

we needed another mini-origin story with Cyclops teenage mutant feelings? there was a whole movie covering that, it was called First Class. we’re still explaining how Cerebro works? Wolverine cameos? Stryker is the bad guy again? multiple love stories that nobody cares about? I forgot what timeline we’re supposed to be even on.

the script is as rote as they come (insert call and response before every scene cut: “I’m not scared” / “You should be”) and there’s no signature action scene like Nightcrawler in X2 or Quicksilver in DOFP to make up for the drudgery.

I have a lot of patience for X-Men films but this one might be the worst. at least bad enough not to argue the difference.

I never felt like walking out of the theater.

the script and the direction were complete shit.

like, every scene transition into another scene made no sense, no one had any motivation for anything except magneto which took way too long for the little they did, apocalypse looked like shit and didn't do much

that fight at the end was bizarre, you had reaction shots of people just sitting around watching, repeatedly. who the fuck edited that?

they could've given Jubilee cyclops' "let's go to the mall" bit at least.

the quiksilver scene made no sense but at least it wasn't shitty.

the wolvering thing was ok but as an action sequence it gave us very little.

the post-credits scene was incomprehensible to me as someone who didn't read the comics

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at

Couldn't get past how ridiculous Nightcrawler looked w/ or w/o the Thriller jacket

Apocalypse looked pretty goofy too & had some weird thing goin on w/ his voice

Pretty sure I dozed off a bit so not sure how much I missed but Quicksilver's scene was the obvious highlight again...rest was rubbish

Holy shit. It was not good. They need to take these films away from Singer, pronto. This might be worse than Origins and might be worse than Last Stand just due to how fucking boring it is. Goddamn.

Can we reboot it again? Please?

But you're right. I was being hyperbolic.

It's just weird to me that the guy who directed two of the most thrilling sequences in the history of comic book films (White House in X2, PLane sequence in SUPERMAN RETURNS) can't figure out how to direct a grand scale team based X-men battle. The final fight against Apocalypse was so incredibly dull that I almost thought they were going to have to fight Jean/Phoenix right after it.

Because it absolutely looked like the budget was all put into the background destruction rather than making sweet power use during battle. As a result, it looked like actors on a green screen set.

No clue whose fault that is, obviously. But I'd say that movie still showed that Singer knows how to do action on occasion (the Quicksilver scene is I'd say even better than the last one), but it's so weirdly hit-and-miss, and the characters are so stilted, and the whole movie reeks of studio notes, and...

Anyway. lol.

how can you go from something excellent like DOFP to a turd like this? shit felt mad rushed and cheap. the CGI was ATROCIOUS. the script was wack as hell expecially magneto's arc...even quicksilver's scene was cringey....dear god what a disaster
