I didn't see a thread for this. I know movies like this aren't usually heralded so I'll make one.
The movie started with a 15 min setup, along w/ clips of his stops and fans from around the world, before getting into Hart's Madison Square Garden comedy show.
Personally for me, Hart is hit or miss, but I dug this flick and the audience I was with loved it. A lot of cats were on the floor on some of his bits. Really good stuff.
Props to Kevin Hart on all his success. He had a really touching moment at the end of his set that I felt him on.

You could tell he was having a great time, and this meant something truly special to him. I enjoyed the whole thing, even after seeing some extended clips/previews.

I've actually been surprised in the past at flicks that didn't pop up immediately. But I guess its up to all of us to make a thread if we don't see one.
I understand that all films released can't receive threads because that would clutter the board.
However, I was surprised this one with Hart wasn't up because he has a recognizable name and an opening on a holiday weekend.

HIGHLY recommend everyone listen to him on WTF with Marc Maron. He has a crazy great head on his shoulders and is doing everything the right way.
Haven't seen this one yet, but I was underwhelmed with his last special. Still, he's doing it the way he should - capitalizing on his popularity while doing a big tour every year, putting out a special, etc. while he's still hot. He knows it could end tomorrow.
Plus, he hasn't done any starring roles in films - only supporting for now.
The BET show is small enough, but he doesn't have to go outside of his comfort zone to do it at all since he's playing a caricature of himself.
Basically, he's one of the smartest entertainers right today. I can't knock Kevin Hart at all.
the 15 min set up was unnecessary but the actual stand up was funny. Not better than Seriously Funny (doubt he'll ever top that) but definitely a good time.

seeing it in a "black" theater. Cant tell you how many times people randomly yelled out "TURN UP!" "Arlright alright alright!", or even worse actually said "why aint he say Turn Up yet? I want to hear him say it!". Not to mention the many ppl (male & female) saying "Oh he a bitch! He a sucka nigga" during the scene at the end where he tears up. Im like dag let the nigga have his moment. SMH

And that almost happened, and my boy who is Egyptian was like "who the fuck would try and clown that. It's real and heartfelt" LOUD. Theater was awkward for a few moments than the credits rolled and the extra bits played and shit got light hearted again
16. "It was really good...i liked it better than his earlier stuff" In response to Reply # 0
maybe not better than the first one...still hard to tell but yeah i thought the storytelling is getting really good. I mostly look forward to the stories. I'm glad he stopped the whole horrible "dont make me laugh" crap. When he did that plus faked laugh it was way too much. I thought it was a solid special, def adding it to my collection of comedy stand up specials.
Btw he is kinda misguided about the whole comeidans in Madison Square Garden ish. Russell Peters also sold out that place a few times on his own. I dont think that uncommon anymore if you got the audience to do it.

and I died laughing then and I laughed again watching this. I agree with others who said the opening skit was unnecessary but i guess he had to do something to make it a movie and not an hour long special.

It has been a long time since i paid any attention to stand up comedy. When i saw this was streaming on Netflix i decided to give it a look. Glad i did. Let me explain is funny. I don't know whether Kevin is overrated or not but i am gonna check out some more of his shows. Hopefully, i will laugh more than i did here.i I am glad he is doing well and getting that paper. He is the black comedian of the moment. For that, I am glad for him. Hope he maxes it out. But it will be someone else's turn soon. He yells too much for me.
That said, I like his BET show. Kinda like Seinfeld; I find every other character funny but his.
