Just watched this on demand before theaters and wow this is a huge improvement over the first. Runs shorter than the first but that's not a bad thing because it doesn't really drag at all.
Not a spoiler but the best part is an Indonesian segment that deals with a cult. This is the longest running at about 40 minutes. It's a nerve wrecking sense of dread that gets worse as it goes on.
I'm a big fan of horror anthologies and this one really does it right. Some didn't really care for the first. Understandably it wasn't for everyone. Still this one deserves a shot seeing as they fixed a lot of what was wrong in the first part.

The batting average for this movie is better than the first one, and they explain more about the... mythos (?)... of the series (I'm assuming V/H/S/3 will be around next year).

It worked so perfectly as a short also and does a lot to develop the characters for its almost 40 minute run time. Couldn't imagine it as a full length film but here it works perfectly.
Being a horror nut nothing really "scares" me but I was really creeped out from the time they reached the commune until the end. It had bad vibes written all over it and I just felt that tension the whole time.
Each short did what it was supposed to do though so I'm very pleased with part 2

As a zombie guy, it was just funny and clever enough to sustain.
The third could've been its own flick, honestly. I trust that Evans could've found a way to expand it to 75 minutes, although seeing as how I generally think some horror flicks would be better as shorts, perhaps it's better to not mess with what works.
The fourth had the cool dog-cam, but Lordy, those alien outfits were hokey, lol.
The first one was by far the thinnest storyline, and the build was too slow for my taste, and the makeup was also hokey... but once it got going, the final ten minutes or so had a decent haunted house vibe.
Framing device worth it for the makeup used in the final frame, lol.
