how many episodes is this 1st season? Somewhat impossible to watch without thinking about Roberto Bolano's 2666 which I read a few months ago, but I'm thinking FX learned from the furor around The Killing and will resolve the case at least partly during the season.

I've never seen the OG series (and I won't) but I'm fucking hard with this. This show has no action and I was more sucked into this than The Americans which is a dope show.

I'm not saying that I need melodramatic dun dun DUN! act outs but the end of acts in this show are: a scene will just kind of end and then the commercials start. The end of the episode was also a little too low key for my taste. Not sure if it's the editing or the direction but nothing really lands for me.
I like Diane Kruger but she's miscast in this. Then again, I was hoping they were going to get rid of the Aspergers element from the original so I was already kind of down on the character to begin with.
I'm still liking it and they've done a nice job tying in the Mexican/American issues but it's all a little too understated for me so far.

Good cast Matthew lillard still plays a dick too well
Solid show so far ~~~~ When you are born, you cry, and the world rejoices. Live so that when you die, you rejoice, and the world cries. ~~~~ You cannot hate people for their own good.

I suppose not a lot of discussion can be had for the show. Top notch show though. Things are really heating up at the moment. How does this show compared to the Euro version?

I think the show has been pretty damn good. I'd venture to say it's been REALLY good from the ep with the girl tied down in the desert on through.
However, wasn't feeling this last one. It was a lot of wheel spinning and Tate gloating and talking tough. About the only part I liked was Marco telling Tate what he went through didn't make him special. Oh, and Charlotte shooting dude in the head and the stuff with Matthew Lillard.
I'm hoping this was a bump, and it finishes strong. I really don't think they need to stretch out Tate's plot throughout the final two episodes. I think a show contrasting life on either side of the border is a good one, and I'm eager for this show to get to that point without having to rely on the over-arching murder mystery.
