"Everything Lee Daniels is and will win is cuz of that coon"
Tyler Perry introduced him to the world with Precious. Now, you can sit there and lie about Lee being a known commodity, but that's not how this shit works. You need a breakthrough and he broke through with Precious.
So when the Butler wins some of them Golden Mens, give credit where it's due.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like a really interesting ensemble and shit, but I don't count a single A-lister on the whole cast outside of MAYBE Melissa Leo and that's a stretch.
Whitaker is a beast but he's more on par with like a Philip Seymour Hoffman. Great actor. If you want to call him an A-lister, fine, but I wouldn't. He ain't Denzel.
Then you got a bunch of very good actors, a bunch of pretty good actors, some washed-up former-A-listers, and Lenny Kravitz.
Also, if this thing is as trashy and pulpy as Longo thinks it's going to be (in other words, if it's even a FRACTION of The Paperboy), it ain't winning a damn thing...

Shit's gonna be closer to Paperboy than Precious-- pouring on the melodrama, perhaps even a bit campy.
But it should allow for actors to really sink their teeth in. And since he got one woman an Oscar and at least one more a nomination (did Kidman get one for Paperboy? Or just a Globe and SAG nom?), it's not a stretch to think the actors will garner buzz.
I suspect Oprah in particular-- I doubt she'd take this role just to be relegated to the sidelines. She'll have some big money scenes.

but i can't think of nothing. I guess i have to explain it again. Lee Daniels is agitation propaganda. same ole same ole. The so called controversial film comes out and they get the same fake black leaders to talk about the shit. Spike lee gets mad. Tyler and Oprah tell you to go see the film cause it's uplifting. Tavis and Al Sharpton take the middle ground. Their spill usually runs like this, we know moviegoers may see this film as being sorta stereotypical but support a black films anyway. This was exactly Smiley's point of view regarding , The Help.
I ain't interested in the butler. I will be placing it on my no watch list..
I really am tired of all the Tyler hate. Coon C'mon dude you the damn coon.
Do you really think Tyler Perry is that powerful? nigga please I told y'all Tyler Perry movie = good times. Shit black people ain't brought nothing new to the table since the 1970's. When i say nothing new i mean polically and culturally(and that includes hiphop). Nothing new man.
You can laugh if you wanna but i can prove everything i say.
OH YEAH I DO LOVE WATCHING MOVIES BUT I AM GONNA TELL YOU SOMETHING, CINEMA IS DEAD. IT'S DEAD.

Are we still calling Black folks coons? In the 21st century? I don't like Tyler's movies, but he got to where he is without White people being in his audience. How many Black entertainers can say the same for themselves? The man is a marketing genius.
Hollywood is full of nepotism. Lee Daniels was helped by Tyler. Good for him.

Forest has a really strong chance too, as does the film itself. Obviously a long way til Oscar season, and there's a shitload of big names approaching, but I highly doubt any of the Best Picture fare will have the box office cred that The Butler brings to the table.
