The critics have killed it, but I think the fact that its been given out all at one time can either make things REALLY good, or REALLY bad because you don't hve to temper your feelings for the next week. You just get it all at one point.

They just showed up, the kill scenes I guess are supposed to just pop up for scary sake, but they didn't work and they just happened. Then they don't get revisited. I honestly believe in the hand of a deft editor there could be a story here, btu the way its been placed out its like ADHD on the screen.

there were small segments that were interesting, but they went away quickly in favor of long sections that looked like they only made for interesting snippets in the trailer, but sucked when they dragged for 5 - 10 minutes,

it's still not particularly good, but that's mostly due to pacing/plotting issues. I actually think it shows promise. What this needs more than anything else is a decent show runner.

It's slow, like REAL slow. They're doing a slow build to a revelation that they give away w/in the 1st ep, if you're paying attention. It feels like they were going for Mad Men meets AHS
They missed the mark, but only slightly, unfortunately its a VERY precarious mix to begin with. Shit's more life Dark Shaddows meets The Killing.

Funny thing is, it's all there - this could have been pruned into something pretty damned good in the editing room.

silly, silly show. I don't think I can really recommend it, but it felt like a cheesy, no-brainer comic book with all its pulpy silliness, bright colors, and over-wrought silly characters so I was able to watch to the end in a pure, pulpy fun way.
if you watch all the way through the show expecting all your questions to be answered, they won't be. it was definitely setting up storylines for s2 by the end. there are a number of seemingly central plot threads which remain wholly unresolved.
definitely, definitely a step down from House of Cards, but it was fun enough for me.

the only saving features for this mess are the adults on the show: Famke, Dougray and Lili. Everyone else...horrible.
like even I went in with low standards and couldn't be even remotely interested in continuing with this.
i feel like there's some potential to BE a show of some sort, but they clearly have no idea what that show will be.
this is like a bad version of season 2 of twin peaks crossed with the shittier seasons of Supernatural, X-Files and *ALL* of the US version of Being Human.
in other words, #FAILSAUCE
i have to agree with a poster in this thread that this is a step down from House of Cards...

The characters are either mopey and boring (the men) or snarky and boring (the women) The only relationship that works is Roman and Shelly. (Hinging the show on those two, instead of Roman and Peter, would have been more emotionally satisfying.) The dialogue is weak and the entire series really only seems to have three episodes worth of plot.
Most of the major 'mysteries' that are supposed to be so interesting never get answered or resolved.
And by the time they unfold their big reveals, I didn't care.
This was a great opportunity that was totally missed.

this is where i'm coming from with this. I'm almost at the halfway point of the series and i feel exactly as you do.

They shot for moody and atmospheric, they got slow and stilted.
MAD plot holes to fill up. It's like they took the WORST characteristic traits of Lost, True Blood & Being Human and threw them together in a blender baked them in an over threw that good Netflix icing on top and called it a cake.

Though, like has been said, shit is sloooooooooooooooooooow as fuck.
I like the two leads. And whoever above said that Famke and Dougray were good needs his meds checked. They are both HORRIBLE on this show. And scenes with them together are painful. As a matter of fact, I would go the opposite and say the only good people in this cast were Peter and Roman, with a touch of Shelley (way subtle name there btw for your Frankenstein's Monster, guys).
The show just wanted to be too much with two little. If they would've focused, and not held on to reveals that we all figured out early on, I think it might have actually worked.
