"Killer Joe (Friedkin, 2012)" Wed Jun-27-12 02:48 AM by bwood
Wow...just wow...
Bizarre movie to say the least. I love how William Friedkin no longer gives a fuck.
Gina Gershon and Juno Temple both show their bushes and are both dummy naked in this shit. After all these years Gina is still fuckable. And Juno is an attractive version of Ellen Page.
Everyone turns in over the top performances and I love it. I love this movie, but this is gonna be a very bitter pill for people to swallow. None of the characters are likeable except for Temple's character and trust me when I say they all get what's coming to them.
Also, the "blowjob" scene is the craziest shit I've ever scene in a movie yet. I mean holy shit did that turn people off, while others where laughing.
I can't recommend it because this shit caters to no one. I had to marinate on it after the credits were done rolling. Also, having "Strokin'" by Clarence Carter over the closing credits was brilliance.

There are two scenes in this movie that I will probably remember all year. The scene with McConaughey and Juno Temple, and the final scene, which is almost 20 minutes long.
McConaughey uses his Texas charm to be both endearing and menacing at the same time.
McConaughey is so good here, he makes fried chicken unappetizing.

There were parts that were absolutely hilarious and others that were beyond disturbing. It is not for everyone. I knew nothing about the movie when I went to see it. From the opening scene on, I was stunned. Cool flick.

this year. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this film to be honest. I realise a lot of ppl won't see the film b/c of it's title (Sounds like the worst B-Horror film) but it's a shame b/c these are the type of films Hollywood used to make but now are too scared of.

I don't know how dark this movie could be without the jokes, and the chicken leg scene kept making think what might have been in the original script, I'd bet a lot of dough that shit got changed lol

and yes, i liked it.
all the main actors killed it
i was mad uncomfortable looking at Juno Templeton's nipples/ass/legs the first 15min so i had to IMDb her to look at her DOB, and even after that scenes had me feeling uneasy, even though my dick kept moving, lol
after the explosion of violence and comedy that is the climax, the end-end was a bit of a let down

I have it ranked near my bottom 5 of the year. Besides the fact that I literally hated all of the characters and didn't give any semblance of a fuck about any of them, Friedkin's directing was just weird to me. It was almost condescending - like, he was mocking the shit out of his own characters, which made no sense to me, and on top of that, I almost want to say he entered some pretty misogynistic territory with the fucking glee he took in watching the women be brutalized. I thought a few scenes worked, but overall I just thought it was a mess and really disliked it. Oh well.
