that movie's nothing without its dialogue

which is why most people that can't follow the accents/stand the attitude don't like that movie.

and then of course there's Tarantino.

Also, shout outs to Wet Hot American Summer, Anchorman and Napoleon Dynamite, even though this thread isn't asking for THAT sort of dialogue.

I mean, practically every scene has a classic line in it, and when Bogart's delivering them, even better...

It was great to hear all these classic lines I knew but never really knew where they were from.

Bogart is amazing, but the rest of the film I felt underwhelemed.

Man, I think the whole cast is great! Those were, like, the top-tier supporting actors of the day. (Not to mention, Bergman is a smoke show...)

I can't think of a disparaging thing to say about the movie that wouldn't be nit-picking. (The plot is kind of far-fetched when you pull out the magnifying glass, but honestly, there are so many great things about this movie that nobody cares about - or even notices - the flaws.)

But, yeah, Casablanca is probably #1 and there are a lot of great older films that are filled with witty banter that is crisp and funny.

if you read his chapter on the film in his super insightful book Alexander Mackendrick: On Film-making and see the words he used, it sounds like he definitely doesn't like it lol. Corny, shameless, ludicrous, almost preposterous, etc. Pretty sure he used those words.
