Really excited and nervous at the same time. I'm currently writing two different versions of the same superhero with different main characters. It'll make sense once I'm allowed to reveal who it is. And I hope they use my drafts.

from the way you word it, GL seems the obvious pick, and honestly, you'd write a perfect Kyle Rayner, if you ask me. Not sure the franchise would be getting to him just yet, but you never know.
Just saw the first GL movie, though, and it wasn't very good, so if that's your project there's nowhere to go but up.

First - congrats man - that is amazing!
Second, how did you wind up getting the opportunity? Have you been on the screenwriting grind for a long time, did you send in specs? Like alot of folks, you are living the dream most of have right now. I'm curious to hear how you broke through.

...and they're bringing in another writer to follow suit and starting establishing the DC Universe I can say that it was The Flash. This was a fun and worthwhile experience. Writing this beast was tricky, it was fun and that's ultimately what I hope this movie turns out to be is a good time like The Avengers. The only problem the studio had was that my climax was way too expensive on each rewrite which is partially due to the villain which is The Weather Wizard (he's never called that in the movie). If this does go wrong I'll let you know how and what I wrote. I take responsibility for what I wrote. I just really hope the studio doesn't pull another Green Lantern (before Greg Berlanti came on and re-wrote it, it was a strong film).

interesting. that's actually the exact feeling i got because i didn't hate the story or characters. it felt like a good movie that got rewritten to death.

Lastly, I know you said you're looking to make it a more fun movie in the vein of The Avengers...but was there any pressure from WB to create a movie that could/would be able to tie in to the Batman and Superman franchises? I know a JL flick (Ben Affleck was the last name I heard them looking at to direct) seems like a high priority for them. If that's the case, it wouldn't seem to make sense to commission a Flash movie and NOT throw in a few morsels to lay a foundation for a JL flick.

sidenote, idk if talks have even gotten this far/you would know/you're allowed to say, but any word on who'll be playing Flash? it seems like a couple of years ago Ryan Reynolds was in talks to play Flash, Deadpool, AND Green Lantern.
