"MIB 3 or Men In Black 3D or Men In Black III or (Sonnenfeld, 2012)"

Men In Black cubed or whatever they're calling this piece of shit.

The first trailer wasn't that bad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyaFEBI_L24

It was nothing to get excited for either. I thought hey maybe the salvaged a movie out of this despite not having a finished script.

And then they put out trailer number two...:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiweqN78BVU

First off Will Smith looks old as fuck in the second trailer. Too old to be playing the jive talking 30 year old that he did in the previous movies. Second, the script problem shows. That shiznit line is fucking horrible. If it were 2004 it might of been funny but goddamn do the writers seem out of touch. Third, Josh Brolin does a great TLJ impression but honestly I'd rather see TLJ. And that was the problem with the second film. They turned this into a Will Smith franchise in which he does bad jokes with so-so CG, when what made this work in the first place was seeing this nigga and TLJ play off each other.

Thoughts? Looks like The Avengers is gonna rule May as the only other "big blockbuster" is Battleship....

production and budgetary troubles notwithstanding I think people will go to see it off the star-power of Smith

the question is whether there is any Avengers fatigue after a couple of weeks and folks wil look here for their next-in-line summer movie fix

I think it'll do decent for a couple of weeks when madagascar 3 (where it'll lose the kid market) and prometheus (where it'll lose the sci-fi market) hit on 6/6

Seriously who would've thought they made a sequel that was worthy to the first? A good portion of the jokes fall flat but that's okay cause they keep it moving (except for the Andy Warhol bit). They did time travel really well and the 3D was really good. And in all honestly this has the best action sequences out of all three. And Tommy Lee is in it quite a bit before Will time jumps. And The Pussycat Doll dies in the first 10 minutes so already this is a plus. Micheal Sthalberg takes a one note character and infuses a lot of energy and life into it. And Jermaine Clement did a great job as the villain. To me Danny Elfman's score was SUPER lazy compared to the previous two (why did the MIB theme sound like shit this time?). And tell me why during a sad emotional "plot twist" at the end was there some guy laughing hysterically? This movie does nothing new, but it is very entertaining and worth a $10 3D matinee.

My full review here: http://www.examiner.com/review/men-black-3-this-sequel-is-worth-the-time-and-the-travel

It's sloppy, but it feels like a Men In Black film. Good action, some good one-liners, and GREAT supporting turns from Jemaine Clement and Michael Stuhlbarg.

You can tell they shot a lot and chopped things together in places... but it works. And some of the CGI is better in the flick than in the commercial--- though the movie's reliance on CGI is detrimental to the overall quality (especially compared to the first).

The second one is sloppy, but doesn't even feel very Men In Black-ish for the most part. It feels like the talking dog show with bumbling uninteresting villains. It's just super uncreative. This film is still sloppy, but it has some really good ideas and creative characters.

Smith and Brolin got along well

And Stuhlbarg was great

Jemaine was cool

I had a nitpicky issue with The Big Twist at the End, but I still went with it

A good time at the movies, nothing more, nothing less

script problem. That's funny as a movie this high profile and much publicized script problems, you'd think he would expect this question by now.

Easily better than the 2nd movie, which is up there with the worst sequels (or movies for that matter) of all time.

I'd continue watching/supporting based on this though...

1) Boris woulda thrown J offa that space shuttle scaffolding structure thingy with the quickness.

None of this "Let's perfectly throw him back onto the walkway, expertly missing the 1,000 foot drop of either side" shit.

2) I INSTANTLY figured out that that cat was J's dad the minute I saw him (on some "Why is a Black guy given this very important job at a very important launch given that things weren't so great for Black folks back th--OH!" shit). Wish there was a way to make it less obvious but I don't know how that is possible.

This was the possible reality where Boris perfectly threw him back onto the walkway, expertly missing the 1,000 foot drop of either side.

Of course I know that's bullshit, but fuggit.... that rationale works for m

... and like someone said before it felt more like the first film than the second. Brolin did a damn good job. Didn't see the plot twist coming (because I thought it would be K seeing J die) but when it happened it hit me because me and my son had ditched moms to go to the movies. No where close to being as good Avengers, but trimming all the excess of MIB 2 made this film really work.

the explanation of K being an emotionless hardass because he had to deneuralize J and make up a story about his pop (that actually was true) was handled pretty well
also, Griffin is a good example of how a plot device is supposed to be treated as a character

Where are all the Will Smith fanboys at? I really ain't got much to say other than i can give it a passing grade C,
it has a few moments but overall lackluster, imo. I really thought the storyline was a bit sappy. Gee Men in Black just ain't fun no more.
