- the helicopter scene is as sharp as anything he's ever done - the speech at the end - the birth scene, especially with the vagina-cam - the stuff in his pockets during the break-in - the decapitated head humor, while dumb, got me, as did the aliases based on signs
Much of the "shock humor" didn't work for me-- calling Anna Faris a lesbian and calling the black guy "sub-Saharan" over and over or referring to the dumb guy as a goatfucker with no real wit or spin got pretty tired to me.
EASILY the most shocking moment was the Wii game, but since it was handled with wit, it didn't make me cringe, it made me laugh quite hard. Many of the other attempts to shock didn't do much for me.
Supporting cast: Faris was good, and I'm normally not a big fan honestly. Rafi was money, as was Reilly, even though most of his humor was "country white people are racist!" and simplistic-- his responses made that torture scene work though. Kingsley had nothing to do and clearly wasn't comfortable with the tone of the film; they needed him to be more scheming, perhaps more hammy, and instead he was just there to be there. He tried harder in Love Guru. I've been a huge fan of Kathryn Hahn since Step Brothers, and it's always great seeing her... and any time Chris Parnell is on screen, ever, I will laugh.
A big improvement from Bruno, and it should help show Cohen can do more traditional films, even if this was pretty hit-and-miss. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-long-and-late-movie-show/id498789655
