One Hundred.

I liked the first season of the Wire but just never got round to watching the rest. 'The Corner' is pretty great and it's from the creator of The Wire. It's only a mini-series with 6 episodes, I've watched half of it and love it. Will have to put the Wire back on my playlist once I've finished with The Corner.

Generation Kill was a great 7 episode mini series from David Simon and Ed Burns.

And of course Treme begins in 2 weeks on HBO. And if you don't know about Treme... then I'm not sure you're really a fan of The Wire.

Aside from cops and crooks, there's very little similarity between the shows. Quality-wise though, The Shield does compare. I think the final season of The Shield might actually beat out a few seasons of The Wire.
