Bourdain Films at Minetta Tavern (Wait, Isn’t the Show Called No Reservations?)
1/5/10 at 12:10 PM Comment 00Comment 00Comments
Hark! The new season of No Reservations debuts January 11, and we’re told the first episode will be set in Panama. Here’s hoping Tony gets deep into our favorite Panamanian specialty, seco con leche (fermented sugar-cane alcohol with milk), and we’re told he’ll also hit Panama City’s Chinatown, tour Manuel Noriega’s house, and hit some seviche joints (our favorite being the one in the fish market). In the trailer here, you can see him burning $300–$600 million worth of cocaine with “la poli,” but forget cocaine fields — the really exciting thing for us narcissistic New Yorkers? He visits Minetta Tavern!

Is it part of the Hudson Valley show we hear was filmed? Apparently not. Josh Ozersky tells us he’ll likely appear with Tony in the “obsessives” episode (in case you didn’t know, Mr. Cutlets really likes hamburgers, and the Black Label one in particular — though he’s now at work on a book about Colonel Sanders). He says there will also be a “food porn” episode that may feature Michael White. In case you’re wondering, Ozersky.tv will begin broadcasting daily clips of Cutlets cooking steaks with Franklin Becker, seafood with Ed Brown, and more starting early next month.

and is rapidly becoming the epicenter of the sustainable farming movement in the United States; I reckon this ep will be a lot like the London ep, with Minetta Tavern (an undoubtedly NYC instituion) being the venue in which to sample the results.

This season has GOAT potential.....

http://anthony-bourdain-blog.travelchannel.com/read/the-snowmans-revenge

Oh, right. Season Six. Starts Monday with the Panama show--which means it's the Blogging Season again. Man..... it seems like a million years ago I was in Panama. Since then, it's been Istanbul, Prague, Ecuador, Hudson Valley...all those one day shoots in the Heartland, 8 days freezing my nuts off in Manchuria, bouncing around the Central Highlands and Hanoi with my old friend Linh (who is only now aware that he created a new and google-able word, "squeasel" ).

..and every time I've been back in New York, I've been eating ludicrously beautiful food for the upcoming sequel to our successful "Food Porn" show, the even filthier, "HOT 'N' NASTY FOOD SLUTS 2".
Did I mention that somewhere in there, I wrote a book. Yeah? There's that, too.

Still to shoot: Kerala, India, Liberia, Cuba, the "Parrothead Show", Beirut, Rome, Paris. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. And oh, yeah, we shot a one-off instructional special about "How to Cook" that's turning out to be rather amazing--with a line-up of chefs showing viewers simple techniques in the kitchen that makes the Yankees starting line-up look like a bench in the minors.

and I don't think the Panamanian press is really reporting on Anthony Bourdain like that.

I thought it was an okay episode, a bit by the numbers and seemed like retreads of other central and south american episodes

I mean, they threw in some almost non-existent Pho for variety, but Prague ain't lookin' like a food lover's paradise no matter how poetic the description.

Looking forward to Hudson Valley ep though.
