"Superman/Batman: Public Enemies"
Tue Jun-30-09 10:17 PM by SupermanFrom281

-The release date is Sept 29th.

-Single and double disc editions

-Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, and Clancy Brown return.

http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/06/batman-superman-become-animated-public-enemies/

Between this and Green Lantern, it look like more home runs for the DC animated movies department. The only movie that I had beef with was Superman: Doomsday.

On the flipside, I wonder what's next for Marvel's animated movies.

...would've been cooler if they kept the character designs from the mag and brought those to life, but the stills look nice.

I've only liked NEW FRONTIER of the DCAU, but this looks quality. And I'm hoping GL is enjoyable as well.

It bored me to tears. I thought the last 30 seconds with Cheetah were more exciting than the whole movie.

I think part of the fault is on me though, as I don't really enjoy the character outside of a JLA setting.

>-Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, and Clancy Brown return.

Kevin Conroy is to (animated) Batman, what Peter Cullen is to Optimus Prime.

Hell, he's earned an iconic link to the Batman character in a similar way as West has (but not as self-parodic, obviously)

I haven't been able to watch either The Batman or The Brave and the Bold because the voice was just wrong. That and neither series was as good as the original set of animated series.

You could say teh same for Mark Hamil as The Joker, really...

so i'll cop this one. Probably won't be the bluray edition because honestly I haven't seen a noticeable difference in quality to justify the price difference especially when my bluray upconverts standard dvds pretty nicely.

On a topical note, I wonder how they will write Batman's character in order to not dwarf his humanity with the God-likeness of Supermans character.

Wow, my login still works 🤦🏾‍♂️

i definitely enjoyed. don't know if the dvd was worth $20 (especially with no chapter selection) but the parts that were left out from the comic seemed pointless.

the things they left out would've been fine in the feature film. not sure why they SKIPPED the whole toymaker/power girl thing and the tidbits of dialogue that fleshed out their relationship more which is what the comic book did SOOOOOOOOOO well.

Pretty decent. While I couldn't get with the artists renderings of the characters (Powergirl in particular was off, save for the ta-tas), voice acting trumps all. Having the big 3 (Brown, Daly, Conroy) back doing the voices negated any misgivings on the art, and having CCH Pounder reprising her role was an added bonus (although I really hated how she was drawn). No, not the best storyline (and I never read the book, so I imagine that would have been much better), and probably wouldn't have made a strong entry in either B:TAS, S:TAS or JLU. But considering the Cadmus arc was probably one of the stronger stories I've seen from the series, that's not necessarily harsh criticism.

This felt like a Saturday morning cartoon with cuss words. Clearly not for children but at the same time it feels a notch or two below modern comic books in terms of sophistication (though I haven't read the comics this is based on, so for all I know it's right on the money)

I did think the voice acting was good, even when the dialogue itself wasn't. And the action factor was definitely there. I actually kind of liked the character designs. Sort of a Bruce Timm meets Ed Benes vibe going on there. But the story just did nothing for me.

So far the Green Lantern one was the first I've been able to make it through without turning it off. I dunno, these just aren't doing it for me.

It was alright. But nowhere near as good as the GL flick. I didn't really like the character designs in this either. It was damn near Liefeld level ridiculousness.

It's Jeph Loeb and it's 90% faithful in dialogue and plot.
