"We may have just gotten a new villain for the Dark Knight sequel (Swipe)"

No one's sure yet whether it's for a new Catwoman movie or a Dark Knight sequel, but still noteworthy. If it's the latter, I dunno how I feel about Angelina joining Nolan's Bat-Universe. She would look ridiculously good in the outfit, but I've never thought of her as a good actress. Plus catwoman's kinda corny. Still, you never know... I still have faith in Nolan for pulling off something great.

Anyway, here are 2 articles (many more can be found on google):

http://www.news.com.au/business/story/0,27753,24100359-7485,00.html

ANGELINA Jolie is reportedly being lined up to star as Batman's nemesis Catwoman in a new movie. The 33-year-old actress – who gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne earlier this month – is said to be in final negotiations with studio bosses to play the feline villain who first appeared in the Batman comics.

It is not clear whether she would play the role in the current Batman film series, starring Christian Bale as the caped crusader, or in a spin-off film as Halle Berry did in 2004's Catwoman.

Actress Julie Newmar, who played Catwoman in the Batman TV series from 1966 to 1967, has given her blessing for Jolie to play the part.

"Angelina would own the part," Newmar, now 74, said.

"My industry friends tell me she has already made enquiries about the role. I can understand how it would pique her interest. Catwoman is Batman's one true love.

"She is tremendously popular with women because she's both a heroine and a villainess."

Other actresses to take on the role of Catwoman include Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992 movie Batman Returns, and Eartha Kitt who took over from Newmar in the TV series.

Jolie was recently tipped to be starring in The Thomas Crown Affair 2 alongside Pierce Brosnan and has reportedly been ordered by studio bosses to put on weight for the role.

Heath Ledger's Joker inspires Angelina to be Catwoman
Tuesday, 29 July 2008

With Heath Ledger hot favourite for an Oscar this year it looks like Angelina Jolie could be following in his footsteps. She is reportedly keen to star in the next Batman film.

The Dark Knight's success will surely attract the Tomb Raider star as will the audiences response to Ledger's performance. Heath's Joker proved that it is not only Batman who is the star of the films - if she became Catwoman she could be up for an Oscar too.

Heath Ledger's Joker has also just been named as the ninth best movie villain in a poll of two and a half thousand film lovers. Anthony Hopkins' Academy Award-winning acting in the role of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of The Lambs led to him being named the best baddie in the lovefilm.com survey.

Darth Vader came second, with Joe Pesci's Tommy Devito from gangster flick Goodfellas in third.

Reports suggest that Angelina is in final negotiations with studio bosses to play the feline villain who first appeared in the Batman comics.

If she does become Catwoman she will be hoping to be more successful than Halle Berry - she received a Razzie for 'Worst Actress' after her film flopped. Other actresses who have played the part include Michelle Pfeiffer and Julie Newmar.

I was talking to somebody about this last night. It would be a good idea , but it would depend on which version of Selina we get. If we get the one from Year One/the first miniseries, she'd be perfect. But I've learned to put undying faith in Nolan.

However, kudos to Hollywood for telling Jolie to put on weight for Thomas Crown 2. She's way too skinny in the last year and a half. Also, if she were to stay the same weight she was in Wanted, there's no way she's looking good in that catsuit.

haha yeah my bad, I only included that second article to prove that it's not only coming from one source and that the Jolie casting choice indeed may be for a Dark Knight sequel and not for Catwoman 2 (especially considering how unsuccessful the first one was).

I'm also really glad they told her to gain weight. Her boney arms disgusted me more than once during Wanted.

you *know* it's Angelina (which can take the fantasy out of the story a bit...) plus, she's too over-the-top-ish meaning, stylish, very pronounced on the screen...

And could you see her and Bale together like in *love*? Hmm... Catwoman is hella sexy, true... but a herb first. I liked Michelle Pheiffer, but nah, not for this...

Who would be a good Catwoman... hmm...

Michele Monaghan seems a bit too bland.
Eva Green?
Amy Adams?
Natalie Portman?
Samantha Morton's got an evil side in her.

Actually, this just made me think a good choice for The Riddler could be Tilda Swinton. I could see her pulling off the bowler, green suit, and cane.

Yeah but she was just as bad as Katie Holmes & might have trouble breathing through her mouth depending on the outfit

i doubt Nolan will even do a 3rd Batman. everything i read sounds like he put everything he ever wanted to see in a Batman movie into The Dark Knight. and he keeps mentioning how bad the 3rd movies of trilogies are.

she isnt batshit insane like the joker or scarecrow. she isnt a super genius like penguin or the riddler. She starts out as a hooker working the streets of gotham. She is very street smart. You need someone who is tough, kinda ripped, can be witty, and very attractive. Charlize Theron is the first person that comes to mind when I think of who would be a good cat woman looks wise. I'm not too sure about her bouncing around in a skintight costume but Charlize could play Selina Kyle for days.

42. "here's my thoughts on angelina in batman"
In response to Reply # 39

imagine this:

angelina jolie as talia, daughter of ra's al ghul, out for revenge with the league of assassins. you could even, if you wanted to, incorporate the lazarus pit (on 2nd thought, nolan wouldn't do that i don't think), and bring back liam as ra's (though i would still have talia be the main villain). while trying to kill batman, talia falls in love with him. maybe in the same film, you could introduce selena kyle (i think someone here said charlize theron, or my personal favorite, scarlett johanson). selena and bruce fall for each other, which is why batman doesn't go completely for talia, and ends up having to stop her plan, though she can't hate him because she loves him and everything about him so much. this could set up catwoman if there is a 4th film.

shit, have the 4th film be about knightfall, but done right. break out all the lunatics from arkham. even though she's a thief, catwoman sees the wear on batman as he fight's and apprehends all these lunatics (maybe a few could get away, like the joker...), so she starts helping him, which begins a little partnership. then we find out bane is behind it. he and batman fight, and he gets the better of batman, but before he can seriously hurt him, catwoman somehow intervenes...ok, that's all i got..i don't know...lol

According to Flixster.com and a few other sites, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Johnny Depp are supposedly being approached to star as The Penguin and The Riddler, respectively. Dope choices if you ask me, I just hope these rumours are true.

Does this mean no Two-Face in the next Batman film?
