...being that it was in the wake of "Philadelphia", I thought "What does my dude have to do not to get AIDS in the end of the movie?". By the time "Castaway" came out, I was about ready for Hanks to have caught the bug off of Wilson.

Late 70's Forest and Jenny have sex, Forest Jr is conceived.
Jenny runs away again
3-4 years pass, during that time Jenny gets the aids from drug use. I mean she could of gotten it from sex but I believe she was still on the demon which is why she left forest.
Jenny learns she is sick, cleans up her life.
Jenny and Forest meet up again, Forest learns he has a son. Jenny learns she isnt getting better.
Seeing as the doctors have no idea what Aids was in the late 70's early 80's Jenny is diagnosed but no drugs and treatments can help her, she dies quickly (quicker then what folks with aids now deal with)

pretty simple to me
