"Characters you want to catch up with..."

Now I'm not suggesting that anyone resurrect/update a TV show or make a sequel/new installment of a film, book, of video game series. I mean if you want to defend your opinion that someone should make a new installment of your favorite series, feel free to do so in this post.

What I'm talking about however is your desire to see where certain characters would be had their stories continued past the end of whatever iteration told us about this character for the last time.

For example...

I genuinely wonder about Old Nicktoons Characters. I want to know how Filbert and Dr. Hutchinson are doing. How as high school/college for Doug? Did Ickus ever become a world class loomer/lurker?

In addition I kinda wanna know what happens to Daria and Jane and frankly everyone from Lawndale High.

Finally...I wanna know about the Bebop Crew...particularly Ein. I feel like even if Spike did bite the big one, and Jet became a lonely alcoholic (like I imagine he did), and Faye's still getting into trouble, that dog had some amazing fucking adventures after he dipped out with Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV.

How about you?

The book for "Out of Sight" ends a little different than the movie though. Not hugely different, but enough.

Well, it's probably more of a tonal thing. The movie threw in a lot of extra shit to make things to make it end on a more positive note.

First of all, Ving Rhames character (side note: he's white in the bok) doesn't get away with the money/diamonds. He gets blown away by Isiah Washington's character with a shotgun while him and Foley are trying to break down the door before he rapes the woman who's staying in the house. The rest of the house scene pretty much unfolds the same way, with Karen shooting Jack in the leg and letting him get taken away by the police (other side note: Whit Boy Bob doesn't accidentally kill himself on the stairs, he just gets arrested).

The main difference is that there's no final scene where they show Karen driving Foley back to prison, and no Samuel Jackson "escape artist" character. So there's no implication that she's going to let Foley escape on the way back to Florida. The book just ends with Karen's phone conversation with her dad: "No one made him be a bank robber." "My daughter, the tough babe."

he's one of those dudes that always has a hustle. He probably befriended a bunch of computer nerds in college, and became their link to the outside world, so they cut him in when they started their Video Game/ Software company in the 90's.

and you KNOW Ferris had a stable of hotties in college. Even as a Freshman.

And remember, Ferris was fairly tech savvy with his. True, he'd enlist an army of nerds to do the legwork, but I could see him being a visionary/idea man for an upstart tech company. He probably got that good 90s search engine cake (Bueoogle?) and then cashed in his chips right before the bubble burst. Probably sold all his shares to dumb ass Cameron.

What makes it even better: Getting a computer when he asked for a car was the closest Ferris ever came to an L in his entire life. Turning that L into a billion dollar empire just seems like the Ferris thing to do.

bizarrely enough, my friend and I were discussing a fictional plot for another KK movie yesterday. I pitched the idea of Daniel being a bum who still tries to enter under-18 karate tournaments as a 40+ year old man so he can relive his glory days and take out his frustration of always being the victim.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_P._Keaton

Alex graduated from Leland in 1989 and accepted a job on Wall Street. The final episodes of Family Ties ("Alex Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Part 1 & 2", Season 7, Episodes 179 and 180) ends with Alex leaving his home for the first time as his family says goodbye.

When Michael J. Fox left his next series Spin City a decade later, his final episodes (Goodbye: Part 1 & 2, Season 4, Episodes 25 and 26) made numerous allusions to Family Ties. Michael Gross (Alex's father Steven) portrays Michael Patrick Flaherty's (Fox) therapist and there is a reference to an off-screen character named "Mallory." After Flaherty becomes an environmental lobbyist in Washington D.C., he meets a "conservative congressman named Alex P. Keaton."

She just sort of disappears in the middle of the movie, and never shows up again. Pretty sloppy storytelling when you think about it.
