"Meshell gig in Richmond VA March 16th (2 sets)..."
Its been a minute since ive been able to catch her live, wanted to catch one of her shows during her near weeklong stay at the NYC BlueNote, but couldnt swing the travel/hotel$$...so needless to say i was VERY surprised when i saw the poster saying she was gonna be playing within *walking distance* of my house right here in RVA. I'll be at both shows that day of course

I might have to see if I can get off work, that's a nice spot to go to (especially because you don't have the parking issues you get with venues in the Fan). That's on the bus line too, for those that need it, you can catch the Regency Mall bus and it'll put you off in the shopping center lot

yeah man, 2 shows at the Tin Pan that day. I've actually never been to the Tin Pan before, so this will be my first time checking a show out at that joint. I honestly had NO idea it was right there. (and i agree, thats a REALLY customer friendly convenient location imo. I'll definitely be revisiting it again if they keep bringing in some folks that i dig)
btw, heads-up, its a little bit cheaper if you buy tix in person at the club vs getting tix online. Not a WHOLE LOT cheaper, just enough to maybe get an extra bowl of soup though

they do dinner reservations for people that want to eat before or during the show.check out the calendar, they've got some good shows coming all through the spring

been a fan of hers since her first album, I really like the way she writes. it's both direct and full of nuance at the same time somehow

The former Sun Ra "Red Hot + Ra" releases flew under everyone's radar last year -- or mine, anyway, I didn't find out about them until like, November or December? They're solid and worth listening.
Im splurging and hitting both Saturday sets, since its so rare she comes so close.
My peeps think thats weird LOL: 'you goin to TWO shows the same day??'
I'm like: "Ya damn right, whats odd about that? Ya'll SHOULD know BY NOW how much of a music junkie i am. Ya'll KNOW she's my favorite living musical artist. Duh...of COURSE im gonna go to both sets while they're playing almost literally 'right around the corner'. Hell, if they'd sell tickets to the REHEARSAL/tune-up for the show i'd probably go to THAT too"
Heads-up folks, she'll also be playing VA on Friday 3/15 too over & up in Blacksburg VaTech area at the Moss Art Center (only $25, $10 for students)!
