SOLID

Some of these beats are top tier, no joke

Griminess + vocal scratches + lots of piano samples --- throwback but fresh -- Ghost's production is just a perfect fit for Rome

Rome himself is in fine form, as he has been for a minute

Method Man on Pz and Qz = !!! (he's been having a great run lately, too)

The only obvious flaw is the closing track, U Mad Huh --- such an obvious misstep that I'm thinking they stuck it at the end for a reason

checking out Che Noir's new release with Big Ghost next off the strength of this

I kind of love her although at first listen, this record's maybe a bit mixed for me.

BUT

Check out "Blue" for Sade vibes. I've been kind of bummed that that random period of young interest in Sade a few years ago faded without some more explicit influence on contemporary music. Uchis is one that occasionally veers into that territory, Blue is in that territory, and probably a standout on the record so far.

This is becoming one of my favorites of the year so far. She has a special talent for putting *one* element on just about every track that makes cringe a little but everything else is so good, I can always overlook.

There's some really subtle stuff in the arrangements on this record, too. Will try to write more later but every listen has revealed more and more to appreciate, musically.

New Sleaford Mods and debut of MSPAINT. Both sound good to me, but the MSPAINT album has a cinematic/epic/hardcore sound to it that I'm really digging.

For the curious:

This is a pretty mixed bag, with about half unreleased tracks, the other cuts being pulled from soundtracks (mainly Preacher's Wife).

The unreleased cuts are at least worth a listen, with a few of them really standing out (Testimony, Bridge over troubled water are standouts on first listen).

Don't have the liners so I don't know when these unreleased cuts are taken from but vocal tone of a few make them sound later?
