It didnt fit the ATWIAD sound...and Parade was such a thought out project (movie and album) that Screams of Passion didn't fit those plans...but it was perfect for that time...so it had to get out some kinda way.

I must of made my girl listen to this song at least 3 times in a row..then I played The Who's "See Me Feel Me" repeatedly. I don't know how she deals with it. At least I torture people with good shit.
2. the quintessential of the 80s style green-screening (this joint fits well with MJ video like "can u feel it" and "rock with you" and the greatest 80s-chees-video of all time "Don't Look Any Further" by the late great Flash, I mean Dennis Edwards
the song itself 1. i know what was going on (spreading the brand and getting your 5-Horseman On forthwith), but I would have MUCH rather this have been a song Prince did himself instead of the other side of his "Family". Its like the difference between good red Kool-Aid and cherry flavored Milk-of-Magnesia
2. I wish the hi-hat/rimshot clicks were a little sharper (more pronounced)
3. I like the symphonic strings as a backdrop, but I always wondered if they too could have been brought forward (pushing the drum programming back a bit) and made this a little more "sometimes it snows..." (as opposed to being a bit dated, but still jammin')
>the video: >1. Jerome look extra-extra-extra saucy Have you seen Under The Cherry Moon? Jerome IS extra extra saucy lol > >2. the quintessential of the 80s style green-screening (this >joint fits well with MJ video like "can u feel it" and "rock >with you" and the greatest 80s-chees-video of all time "Don't >Look Any Further" by the late great Flash, I mean Dennis >Edwards >
Yeah the video is bizarre. I don't know what they were going for and I bet MTV barely played it. I'm willing to guess that the whole thing was dictated second by second by you know who.

>2. I wish the hi-hat/rimshot clicks were a little sharper >(more pronounced) > A lot of 85 productions have a shitty sound but at least things were sounding better than the muddy stuff that 84 produced imo.

I actually think the opposite..the strings are up a tad too loud but that's me.

hence the 3rd extra

I legit think this was an attempt to see if people would buy more into a white (less ethnic looking) version of himself

I would've just liked to see if a less electronic version would have changed it into a softer cut
