"What’s the last CD you purchased?" Tue Jan-15-19 04:03 PM by Dstl1
Old or new. I recently purchased Median - The Sender from Amazon. One morning one of the tracks popped in my head. I hadn’t listened to the album in YEARS, so when i tried to hop on Spotify and download it, I realized it must have been back when I used to have Rhapsody. Good ole Amazon had it used for $6. Fun album. Some real nice beats on there. I would have preferred digital, but hey. Last night I copped I Need A Haircut...the original version before Biz got into trouble with sampling. Excited for that to arrive.

Ordered online directly from each artist.
Despite streaming most of my music nowadays I do still prefer a cd for all the reasons discussed a million times. I'll go vinyl for certain releases as well.
No matter how great an album is there is still a part of me that's mildly disappointed when there's no "real" copy to obtain. __ I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!

They had the CD with an autographed cover plus the mp3 download for basically a normal album price. I figured since I was going to buy the album anyway, I might as well get the autographed CD too.
There’s basically gotta be some special reason for me to buy a CD at this point.

saw it used for a good price and there's no digital version to be found legally. I'm also thinking about copping a recently released Japanese budget version of SV's Fantastic vol. 2, almost purely because it comes with an OBI strip and extra liner notes.

I've seen the series and it's pretty good, sometimes a little dark, but the music that was in it was great, you came up, I still have some cds on hold at another used cd store and I got three EP cds from "Cowboy Bepop" and some other anime soundtrack cds on hold I need to get, probably will get those this weekend.
I've been holding off for a while cause each one is like $10 each, I keep finding other goodies at other spots that depletes my extra spending cash quickly, youknowhatImsayin.

I kinda bought it on a whim as I've only ever seen an episode or two of the series, but I like it — good mix of funky jams and cool-out joints. I really need to get around to watching the show, haha.
it's funny you mention Cowboy Bebop cuz one of the last CDs I bought before this one was a 3-CD set by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts, who did all the tunes for that series. The OSTs for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex are next on my list. I really wish these were available on vinyl, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

8. "Last Week I Purchased Five Used CDs Cause They Were $1 Each" In response to Reply # 0 Tue Jan-15-19 11:44 PM by Dj Joey Joe
The local FYE in my town is going out of business and prices has been dropping every few weeks, well they had some generic priced cds and all of it was on sale for $1 each, so I went thru the entire section and found five CDs I thought I couldn't pass up on; here is what I got:
Various Artists "The Beach, Reggae: The Good Life Collection" (two disc set full of classic 70's & 80's lover's rock reggae)
Elva Hsiao "Blossom In Red" (a female Chinese/Mandopop rock artist)
A-Mei "Can I Hug You, Lover? (a female Taiwanese/Mandarin pop vocalist)
Various Artists "Stay In Tune With PentaTone" (its just various classical music, but it's a Super Audio CD, with surround sound effects, I bought it just to resell on amazon, those cds are never cheap on there)
The High-Lows "Tigermobile" (a Japanese hard rock/punk rock band, I got a few of their cds, and it's okay, some albums are better than others, I think the store didn't know what it was cause it has no name on the case cause it's just a furry leopard/tiger case, lol)
I also bought a ton of vinyl too but you asked about CDs so I'll just end it here.

Last few new CDs I purchased... Passion Like Fire - Tamia Ella Mai - Ella Mai Oxnard - Anderson .Paak
Around Christmas, I copped a few holiday albums (CDs) I didn't have... Everyday Is Christmas - Sia Merry Christmas - Mariah Carey
And also several at FYE that were on sale, that I didn't own... Coming Home - Leon Bridges Talking Is Hard - Walk The Moon The Low End Theory - A Tribe Called Quest CTRL - SZA
16. "Yeah FYE and Newbury Comics are about the last two left " In response to Reply # 15
The FYE near me has a used copy of Poor Righteous Teachers - The New Word Order and Smoothe Da Hustla - Once Upon A Time In America. I may have to go cop both.
They had an original pressing of Dogg Food but I passed on it and now it’s gone. Kind of wished I copped it.

I usually buy CD's of albums which get a lot of burn from me. So I may buy Streams of Thought and Daytona, although I'm not sure those albums are available on CD.
I prefer to buy CD's, although I do have a Spotify account.
I like the physical disc and packaging and the better fidelity than is usually available buying a digital file.
I would buy more CD's but I don't have the physical space to store many or the disposable income.
21. "ATCQ - We Got It From Here b/w Esthero - Wicked Lil' Girls" In response to Reply # 0
The Esthero was more recent about a year ago.
I can't remember if the Tribe came out before or after the second Tuxedo album.

I wanted to support the old-school way for Paak. That said I used to buy everything on CD, but I got tired of paying crazy prices for CDs at mom & pop shops since Target & Best Buy are mostly out the game.
...I really miss credits tho. I like reading along with albums and the artwork that puts me in the zone that I think the artist wants me to be in. I just couldn't do the 15-18 anymore tho...
Slowly getting into more vinyl. Only for the albums that a really enjoy tho, it's a slippery slope and I could turn into Madlib real quick because my eyes are bigger than my wallet....plus I would buy a record just because it looks interesting, gotta chill on it.
25. "Got my Biz Markie last night!!!..." In response to Reply # 0
so damn excited, for some reason. It's been a while since I listened to it as a full album experience. I somehow lost my good one and then all I could find was the new one after he got sued. Also...yall ever stumble upon a recent-ish album that someone made like "I had no idea this existed"? Did yall know Biz did this?:

The Pete Rock / InI album Center of Attention, from '03 I think, was like that for me. The MC's were alright and the beats are dope. I saw the name on here a while back but didn't think the group was for me. I've listened to some of the highlights on my Spotify Mix list over the last few months and liked those songs. Pretty dope throwback album.

29. "Yeah, I Have "Weekend Warrior" On Vinyl" In response to Reply # 25
The pressing on vinyl isn't the best cause you can tell they just transferred it from cd to vinyl without mastering it (some of the bass is just too heavy and way in front of majority of the vocals), but the only reason I bought it was cause of Kev Brown, he produced two tracks on it and I was in my "collect everything produced by him on vinyl" but if it wasn't on vinyl then I would cop it on cd.
But yeah I copped it the year it came out, good beats, rhyming is what you expect from Biz (nothing amazing) though.

KRS-One self titled, and 100% Ginuwine. These 90s CDs were cheaper than their lossy, digital counterparts. More power to me. Great for catching up on stuff that I missed out on back then.

Euro companies have been pressing up nice silver/factory CDs of classic Prince boots and selling them on Amzn lately, so I've been copping those til the faucet gets shut off...
Def into vinyl tho. I recommend it. It forces me to listen to albums front to back when nowadays I may otherwise just pluck songs from some of my all time favorite albums just because that's the nature of streaming.
Can't do that w/vinyl and it helps me remember/appreciate tracks on my old favorite albums I may otherwise have neglected.
