I know there's like 100 remixes for a lot of songs, but post a remix version that was pushed by the label that significantly worst than the original single or album version.

But the original is much better than the remix to me. Maybe it's because that song is so indelible for me.
This is a hot take, but the original Shut 'Em Down is much better than the Pete Rock remix. The remix is good but the album version is great and I don't like thinking of the Pete Rock version. It's really a different song rather than a remix.

the beat on the original is *much* more powerful and in line with the vibe of the lyrics
pete rock's loop, not so much (including the speech cuts) and leave me cold comparatively

man, i always thought the same damn thing!!. the original hits harder than a mofo. i mean that beat is a like a bomb going off every second and a half. that remix beat and Chuck's lyrics is like oil and water. I mean the jazzy horn isn't working for me when Chuck is on some, I testified my mama cried black people died when the other man lied. and then the video too!!! that video was dope too and wasn't vibing with that pete rock beat.

I agree that the album version is dope and underrated.....sometimes I do like the OG better, cuz it hits a lot harder. I just wouldn't put Pete's mix that far below it IMO

I'm not sure who these true heads you are referring to cause it was on the "Walking With A Panther" album, it just that the original wasn't that good of a song until Marley Marl wanted to remix the song.
I was in NYC the day LL came up to WBLS on "In Control Show" to push his "Walking With A Panther" album and Marley liked a few of the singles they played on air (it was that Saturday night before the album dropped in stores that following Tuesday) and even said to LL, I like that song, I need to do a remix for it, less than a year later, bam, the Jinglin' Baby Remix is out.

simon says, same story... but i hardly ever hear that remix anymore (thank god).
can't even remember the last time i heard OG flava in ya ear tho. everyone came with tough verses on there (wasnt Biggie dissing Craig?). In 94 all you ever heard was the OG and that still goes!!!

While probably not technically a remix, this habit of throwing on an "urban" artist to make a song more palatable to urban radio stations really sucks.
For a while, my local radio station played this exclusively, and may still do it...TODISDAY (c) wilder
It only really irks me because they took a line that Sam absolutely bodied and let Mary sing an unremarkable version of it.
Hell, throw the JT/Beyonce End of Time song in this pile as well.
