The album is too long. It starts out strong imo. Songs 1 - 8 are all keepers. The wheels fall off quick after that.
I could do without the next like 5 or 6 songs. I understand he's got a wide audience he needs to appeal to so I get the Drake, Ella Mai, Kodak Black, Melli, Jeremih, and 21 Savage features.
But none of those songs do it for me. After Championships, (which would be a much better song if it was Ross rapping), I don't like another song till OodleS. I like 100 Summers. I rock with Stuck in my Ways and Cold Hearted 2, the outro.
So 1-8, 13, 15, 17, & 19.
12 out of 19, which is about what I expected to like if had 19 songs.
Some big money was spent on production, some costly sample flips I imagine.
No one on OKP wants to talk about Jay? That's the verse of the year for me probably. I'll have to have a year end review to go over verses I've loved throughout the year but goddamn if he didn't kill that shit.
The section about the parts of pig and pork given to black people, "shit you discarded and that we ingested, we made the project the wave" then immediately draws a parallel to the hood and how white came back reinvested, gentrified shit.
Jigga: In the land of the free, where the blacks enslaved Three-fifths of a man, I believe's the phrase I'm 50% of D'usse and it's debt free (Yeah) 100% of Ace of Spades, worth half a B (Uh) Roc Nation, half of that, that's my piece Hunnid percent of Tidal to bust it up with my Gs, uh Since most of my niggas won't ever work together You run a check up but they never give you leverage No red hat, don't Michael and Prince me and Ye They separate you when you got Michael and Prince's DNA, uh I ain't one of these house niggas you bought My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours My spou- (C'mon, man) My route better, of course We started without food in our mouth They gave us pork and pig intestines Shit you discarded that we ingested, we made the project a wave You came back, reinvested and gentrified it Took niggas' sense of pride, now how that's free? I'm not stupid hype off the Seinfeld line like a lot of people are but it's cool.

He's a pretty straight forward, limited emcee. Nothing clever about his written raps.
Every once in a while, he'll have a song that sounds great in the ride; an epic sounding beat that needs a large amount of energy from emcee to match intensity and the combination works well, IE the Dreams & Nightmares intro.
I like songs 1-8 on this album as I'll always be a sucker for In The Air Tonight, you gotta suck as a beatmaker to mess up that sample. Trauma, the Mobb Deep sample, rider shit. I was not a fan of Uptown Vibes at first, but that song has grown on me and like it within context of album. Cardi smashed her feature, I enjoy her music lol.
When What's Free started, immediately heard What's Beef and said, "OH NOOOOOOO!" I thought... this could go left quick and be corny. But it works, but please don't let this be new trend and producers start trying to freak the classic cinematic soundscapes on LAD.
Respect the Game, ya'll know the sample. Actually, I'm not really feeling Splash Warning. Championships - again, I wish it was a Ross joint.
