"New Swizz Beatz album - Poison"
Fri Nov-02-18 03:32 PM by maro

Listened to it at the gym today. Tons of great features. Oddly enough the standout for me was Lil Wayne.

Not suprisingly, another standout was '2 Chains"

...... and I thought the Nas track was eh. (same for the Nas track on the new BEP). Comes off flat to me.

werd.

Nas sounded just fine. The only problem was he rapped too long without any switch up in the beat or how he flowed. Although on second listen, I kind of like how Swiss just let Nas go. Swizz shouldn’t have been on the intro though. And Monotone T shouldn’t have followed a long essentially monotone rhyme from Nas. The shit that was eh was Jim Jones. And Swizz trying to rap before Nas. Or do spoken word or whatever he would call that shit. The spoken word intro was skippable too. As was Gibbs. Kendrick’s hook to the Lox track didn’t fit. He sounded like a kid interrupting a convo between adults with an outburst. Young Thug had style but no substance. Skip. Chains was okay. I wouldn’t necessarily quite any of those lines, but good to know his kids don’t eat pork.

Who ghost produced that sample heavy, let the sample ride, joint?
Nas sounds inspired on there.

The Pusha track is aiight. He sounds boring to me sometimes.
I love Pusha's writing ability, he connects bars and doesn't have
use for unnecessary words in 16s. But - while he's great at
street rhymes, and that's my favorite style of rhymes, love slang and imagery, stories - he can start to sound repetitive and meh especially
if the beat isn't bringing life to the record.

Jim Jones is a great emcee, love him for some of the same reasons
I love Push. Plus his favorite emcee is clearly RD & Vol. 1 era Jigga. But I like him most over soul chops and this beat is whatever.

Speaking of beats, 25 Soldiers beat is CRAZY. too bad Thug is on it.
I need Roc Marci on there.

And The Lox joint is cool! I'm always gonna be a fan of back & forth rhymes. You then make the rappers going back & forth, a pair that are
great at doing that, Styles & Jada, and I'm probably going to be a fan.

The Wayne joint pretty much reminds me of The Carter 5 Wayne song.
It's alright, nothing special - no pun intended.

What a waste

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*
