"2018 Hip-Hop - Return of the lyrics(ist)"
Fri Nov-02-18 09:01 AM by maro

I for one cannot complain about 2018 regarding emcee skills. This year was flames. Some of our favorite Emcees delighted us with wordplay.

Elzhi (and Khrysis) - JERICHO JACKSON
Black Thought - Stream of thought and that got dayum 10 mins freestyle.
Phonte - No News is Good News
Royce Da 5'9 (solo and PRHYME)
Pusha T - DAYTONA
ROC MARCIANO ( all his drops)
Binary Star (one.be.lo)
I want to say Black Milk as well - FEVER

and of course

LUPE - DROGAS WAVE (ain't nothing competing with this album lyrically)

What other albums have been lyrically outstanding?

werd.

As a bonus, the beats are very good, too. Which means this is a hell of an album.

I mean there's nothing online about this dude. No interviews, reviews, nothing. (Not even an okp post?)

Am I bugging? This just seems very dope and fresh for nobody to be talking about at all.

I don't know maybe I'm just thirsty for something new.

I was thinking it sounded like a lo-fi (not in a bad way) - but with more focus - album by Count Bass D.

I'll keep my eye out for the next one for sure.

Their best as a duo IMO.

Elucid is easily rapper of the year. Dude is unreal. Do you happen to know what he's got up next? (greedy I know)
