"Projects that were announced but not released"

With Curren$y & Gibbs' project Fetti dropping halloween (produced by The Alchemist!), it had me running through Spitta's discography & what stands out besides the stuff he's released, is how many times he's announced a project that never saw the light of day (yet?).

Back in February 17 him & Krit talked about releasing Lacs N Chevys, April 07 he announced The Motion Picture Soundtrack, May 17 he talked about Smokey Robinson 2: Smokey's Revenge w/Don Cannon, in December 17 him & Statik Selektah announced a project. Way back in March 2015 him & Wiz talked about 2009. Hell, back in 2012 him & Chuck Inglish talked about making Puff Daddy. That's 6 unreleased projects that seemed to at least be someways along in their creation.

Then it had me thinking about other projects that have been announced but not released (not counting ones that folks have outright said aren't coming out/don't exist).

Yall remember back in October last year when 9th Wonder said him & SiR had a whole project together?

This album is supposedly finished, not sure why it never came out, especially since they released the Victory Laps single, probably because of label politics?

Another one is The Cure, not sure how far RZA got with this, my guess is that he started working on it after Forever, then kind of forgot about it after Supreme Clientele and the Bobby Digital albums.

The Standard - Q-Tip & Common

Psychic Friends Network - Black Thought, Jeru The Damaja, Common, Kweli and I think the Last Emperor

The Fabulous Fleas - Posdnous, Q-Tip, Afrika & Junkyard Juju...on Juan Epstein with De La, I believe Pos says that Saturdays was originally a Fabulous Fleas demo and Tip says Pos has demos they recorded.

I recall Pete saying in an interview that he and C.L. were working on the remake with Chris Dave.

Lord Finesse's The Underboss. Last I heard him mention in an interview that his next solo LP would be called "The Inevitable".

Who knows if we'll ever get it tho. Seems like it's RTJ4 time (which means a whole bunch more touring with it), and Big is still promoting he last album (because the Apple commercial is steroids, apparently).

...at least if they record it, the record would probably drop.

I was hyped for this after hearing Natural Born Killaz off of the Murder Was the Case soundtrack.

The Jon Brion / The Roots album.

(IIRC, 15 approached Jon Brion about producing a The Roots album, I can't remember if that album would have been TTP or Game Theory. Anyway, before that album began recording 15 casually dropped the collaboration to Kanye. Kanye then stole 15's idea. Because of Kanye's thievery, we have Late Registration)

They should have worked together more post-NWA. Dre and Snoop hooked up a number of times after their time at Death Row and made some good music. Dre and Cube had chemistry and that combination could have made some nice songs.

We got Hello(?), the 'NWA' reunion song but besides that and a verse by Ice Cube on Compton, I can't remember the Dre & Cube working together.

Kind of a shame.

"Chin Check" and "Hello" ? I mean they were fine. And it was nice to hear the crew together again even if it just made me miss Eazy.

But I always thought those songs were kinda mehhhhhhhh. Especially considering the levity of the situation, trying to stage a comeback as a group, minus such an important member, and who hadn't worked together for nearly a decade. I was just really underwhelmed.

I think it was mostly the production. Full disclosure I've always preferred the brash, busy Dre beats circa NWA/Death Row days to the empty-space, less-is-more approach he employed in the late 90s/early 00s Aftermath days. So that probably played into it. I love Chronic 2001 but I remember thinking that the NWA tracks were just ... bland.

I'm sure I'll catch a ton of flack for this but I'm just being honest !

They're not bad but they're also ummemorable. I think you're right about the production style as well. The sparce beats just didn't sound like NWA. Maybe Dre was trying to update their sound but It just didn't work.

Maybe the magic left. You'd figure that the Cube, Ren, Dre and whomever filled out that fourth slot would be money but that certainly wasn't the case.

Performed the same set of yet-to-be released songs at both. And then was surprised that people knew all the words to them. Well, duh, dude. You've been performing them whenever you hit the road. It's not like you have "new" material.

29. "Remixes"
In response to Reply # 0

For some reason I remember remixes from the late 2000s that were announced but never released. They sound incredible on paper lol.

-John Legend Green Light remix feat. T.I.

"T.I. did a remix for me for 'Green Light,' with Swizz Beatz on the production," Legend told MTV News. "That was fresh. That'll be coming up soon. I switched up my lyrics a little bit to ride the beat in a different way. The beat is slower, a little more R&B-ish. Swizz slowed up the beat a little bit. T.I. did a different verse from Andre 3000's, obviously. It's kind of a different record, but it still has an element of the original."

-Swagga Like Us Pt 2 - Jay-Z Feat. Andre 3000, Young Jeezy & Nas (supposed to be on Blueprint 3)

-Roc Boys Remix - Jay-Z feat. Jadakiss and Beans
