I think D'Angelo's VooDoo is leaps and bounds better than Brown Sugar (fight me). And for the longest, I didn't really know why I felt this way until I realized it came down to grooves. I like mood, I like how someone sounds on a record. Lyrics (while important) are secondary. VooDoo is essentially one long groove filled with inside jokes from D and Ahmir (another post for another day).

So now that I've had this epiphany (and I'm not ashamed), when I hear groove, I tend to love it.
Zac Apollo's album "Loveset" grooves. A lot! And I feel kinda lazy comparing it to D's VooDoo, but based on one listen, I think it kinda fits. Especially some of the reverse guitar I was hearing. I still need to run through it more, but like what I'm hearing.
