initially drew me to her. Found my post about her first album from 2013 (http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=5&topic_id=2838569&mesg_id=2838569&listing_type=search), which I enjoyed a lot when it first came out. Stylistically this was my favorite period of hers even if it was pretty derivative, but there are 4-6 really great songs on the record (mainly the ones written by Babyface). The change was necessary for her to continue her career and achieve more success, but I don't enjoy her subsequent releases as much even if she's become an even better singer.

like, she likes to be carried around and spoken to in baby voice lol i kinda dont like that shes with Pete Davidson now, only bc i loved him w Larry David's daughter at any rate - musically ive never been a big fan. Her voice is great and all i guess, but there's nothing special about it. Like a great singing voice with zero personality to it.

The personality Cat adds to the original makes for a more enjoyable listen, even though she is arguably, technically a more proficient singer. Turned it off a few seconds in, to be honest. Good band tho.
