Apparent drug overdose. That's fucking awful.
I became a fan of dude's music towards the later part of his career, like starting from "Watching Movies..." until "Swimming." "GO:OD A.M" was also really good.

Too sad. Like most on this board his initial sound and style wasn't my thing but come "Watching Movies....." and after he really began developing into an artist I followed who put together quality albums with the assistance of a bunch of other acts I already was a fan of like Alchemist, FlyLo, Earl Sweatshirt, Anderson Paak, etc.

And he was super genuine, authentic and looked out for people coming up.
All the stories I've read on twitter and IG today: From Vince Staples, Casey Veggies, Chance the Rapper, Rocky Fresh, and more I'm forgetting at the moment.. they all said, that he looked out for them, took them on their first tours opened their eyes to places they'd never been - gave them all a shot.
He was best friends with Schoolboy Q and Thundercat. His first stint in LA - opened up his home to any and all artists that wanted to swing through and jam.
He took piano lessons at 6, he said recently. On IG - he'd be going at it on his piano - just getting better and better musically. He played horns on his latest album, did a lot of arrangements.
I was really interested to see where he was gonna go as an artist the next 10 years.
I'm not a huge fan of his music.. I fuck with WMWTSO a lot. I'm into the Faces mixtape. Not big on GOOD:AM. I like Divine Feminine for what it is... but I was appreciating the growth.
This newest album is really good. He was loved by all the guys from his generation. He was respected by the older generation as a musician and a ton of cats like Just and Quest seemed to really care for him. And he's looked up to by a god knows how many up and coming artists.
