Livin’ Proof Poverty’s Paradise 4,5,6 Lifestylez
I’ve never heard the Mic Geronimo album beyond the singles.

Side Note: I went and skimmed through Poverty. WHAT WAS THE BIG DEAL WITH CHRIS WEBBER!?!?!?!?! That skit was sooooo pointless. It adds nothing to the album and does nothing whatsoever to enhance the flow!

Group Home and Kool G. are the two that I most often go back to.
Mic Geronimo and Big L are in the next tier.
Naughty I haven't listened to in probably 20 years.
__ I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!
Flip it enough? Flip these. Flip off. Go flip some f*cking burgers.(c)Kno

I KNOW Big L was nice. I’m not trying to downplay him. But I feel like his rep has grown majorly since he passed. Some hold him in way higher regard now than most hip hop fans did in the 90s.(and to be fair, he was probably a bit slept on back then, and with passing away early...who knows what was in store for him?)
Meanwhile Treach is the opposite. Everyone knew he was one of the best rappers back in the 90s, but now he’s pretty much always an afterthought in any all time great discussion.
It’s just weird to me how historical perspectives change.

Specifically with that first album...there’s too much shock value shit.
He took that Devil’s Son/Horrorcore shit route too much when he was better suited to be the smooth cat like on Put It On and MVP.
I’ve stated plenty of times on here my automatic dismissal of any MC that talks that rape shit. I know anyone can say if I listen to MCs talk about killing etc then I shouldnt be so sensitive but whatever...I draw the line there.
So the “if I catch aids then I’ma start raping bitches” is just over the line for me.
There other lines like “I’ll even fuck a dead bitch” that just seen good as well.
He was definitely still finding himself on that album but the end result just isn’t that dope and doesn’t stand the test of time for me.
On the other hand, Treach not only knows how to rap his ass off, he knows how to write a fucking song. Whether it’s an anthem like Feel Me Flow or Craziest, or more thoughtful joint like Chain Remains or World Go Round or the ladies joint like Sunshine.
He just efficiently covers a lot of bases. Beats are dope on that album as well. Definitely underrated.

And while Treach mainly gets his props for his ‘91 stuff....he was still GREAT in ‘95.
Hell, he still came off on a lot of those ‘99 joints on the Nature’s Fury album.
But back to Poverty’s Paradise....yeah, he was in top form. You named the highlights. Always respected Treach for rapping at a high level even on the obvious commercial songs. Even on Hip Hop Hooray from the previous album.....there’s so many bars on there.
