I have it saved on Spotify but yet to check it out. I'm sad he didn't have a longer career, or at least prime of his career. I forget exactly what happened but I think he had a kind of falling out with Dre and co. because he was set up to be around for years but Restless is really the last album he dropped that made any real noise. Doesn't mean his subsequent music wasn't good (I heard Man vs. Machine and liked it well enough, just wasn't on the level of his 1st three ... haven't heard any of his albums since tho), just that it wasn't promoted as heavily.

They dropped an album in 2016. I only know this because I just went to Spotify and saw Serial Killsz listed in X’s discography, because I couldn’t believe Napalm was his most recent release (six years is a long time for someone with X’s work ethic). I doubt X had a fallout with Dre because X is one of the cohosts on Dre’s Apple Music show. Or he was anyway. I haven’t listened to Apple Music since around the time Phife died.

I think he only slowed a bit after his son passed away.

Oh my bad - to be clear the "fallout" was short lived, and was sometime around the 02-04 time period. So it's not recent, from what I remember. Think it was between him / Dre / Snoop, something involving Suge though I can't remember the exact details.

^^ that's exactly how it went. There's some gems on Man vs Machine but definitely isn't near his first 3. Funnily enough the "bonus" disc had probably MVM's best song, "What a Mess". Think it had 1 or 2 other really good songs as well but I can't recall titles.

Wasn't crazy about the lead single, but SAS was rocking on that album

As already mentioned, the beats on 40 Dayz are really fucking good. It's got a west coast sound that was specific to X and the Liks, so it had its own personality. And X was hungry as hell. So many great songs.
I even loved "Shrooms" cause I think X is hilarious.
